Spoilers DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 1

The reason I started to watch this show was because I'm a Doctor Who fan. Seeing Arthur Darvill in a DC time travel show intrigued me enough to tune in. I have no knowledge of the other Arrowverse shows (I've heard good things), so I may be the only one watching this without that necessary background knowledge. That made viewing the first episode a little clumsy, since it was mostly strung together with references to The Flash or Arrow (Green Arrow even showed up).

The reason I am still watching this show, and intend to stay a little longer, is because I'm a Wentworth Miller/Prison Break fan. His version of Captain Cold is possibly the best character on TV today. It's not Emmy Award-winning acting, but it feels to me that Miller really enjoys the role and I enjoy every scene with the character. Most of the others (even Victor Garber and Dominic Purcell) are kind of bland or too one-dimensional.

I don't know, the acting may be mediocre and the plot can get predictable at times, but there's something about this show that I find more interesting than Arrow, Flash or Supergirl put together. Perhaps it is the team dynamics. Each member brings along their own backstory that I find interesting to explore. And I kinda like that they're not a cohesive, coordinated team but when it comes to crunchtime, they gel together.

I like that it's not depressing like Arrow has become, or a rush to get through as much Flash material as possible before the developing Flash movie puts everything out of bounds. It's fun - and yes, some of it doesn't make much sense - but there's enough to enjoy to keep me going and preorder the DVD.

You sound like you're trying to justify watching garbage.

You can trust us, we won't judge you.

LOL! I'll come out and say that I like the show. It's not great, but it's fun in a Stargate Atlantis kind of way. Pop some corn, hit the couch for an hour, and enjoy. Not everything has to be fantastic and mindblowing.

Well, looks like one of those things that we glimpsed in last week's Flash is showing up already. (I think that's vague enough not to need spoiler code.)

This makes me very cautiously optimistic about...

...the Legion!

Maybe we could use an Arrowverse cross-discussion thread so we can talk about all of the shows openly.

Ugh! I need to see next week's episode!

Normally I wait till the shows are on home video before I sit down and watch them. I'm too hooked now to wait.

This one was fairly effective. I think the characters are starting to gel more, and we're getting to explore some interesting variations on their dynamics. It was intriguing to see Snart acting as a conscience for Sara, rather the reverse of what you'd expect. And Mick showed some humanity in response to Ray's self-sacrifice on his behalf -- it's nice to see he has more than one dimension after all. (I also noticed that his arms were made up to look scarred from burns. I guess that fits the character.) But it remains consistently evident that Rip Hunter is a really, really bad team leader. Things only went right here because they ignored Rip's plan.

And yes, I caught the in-joke where Wentworth Miller said "This isn't my first prison break." Although I never actually watched that show.

I wonder -- is Valentina dead, or will she return as Negative Woman?

So... Savage has been caught in a conventional explosion and then, moments later, a nuclear explosion (or at least been very near it). I imagine it'll take him a fair amount of time to heal from that.

Kendra has to kill him with the Dagger for his death to stick.

Any other death results in reconstitution.

It's really a question of which piece of him reconstitutes into a new Vandal Savage, unless all of them do, and then it's like with Lobo where there are thousands of Lobo killing and autocloning from spilt blood, moving across the planet like a stormfront.

The Prison Break comment went over my head but I thought that was a pretty enjoyable episode. I think it definitely benefited from just getting on with it. Even if Rip might have a good point I liked Kendra and Jax saying "Screw it we're coming too".

And remember in Russia prisoners with perfect teeth will beat up others with perfect teeth. I suppose in that way eventually there is only one with perfect teeth after a while. Though a bit forced there were some good character beats for the shifty thieves tonight.

I think it's a good sign that no one seemed insufferable tonight.

So is there any chance that Flash jumps into some alt reality that the Legends crash into? :)

I thought this was a solid episode, great interaction.... so will we see Negative WOman later?a

Loved the Prison Break reference, but I am still waiting for an episode with Captain Cold , Heatwave, COunt Vertigo and CLock King.

So if Rip leaves the ship and leaves SNart in command, would that make him Captain Cold?

Better than Mayor Cold. But that's only a dimension jump away!

I liked this one too. It's a rush to have SOMETHING for everyone to do every episode, but they are starting to find a balance without too obtusely leaving people on the ship for no reason. I was figuring they'd work Chernobyl into it somehow, as THAT meltdown happened in 1986, but I guess not. And neat to see that the Arrow hint we saw in the speed cannon a couple weeks ago was in fact this!

And as Soviet gulags in winter go, this one was REALLY green.

Still really enjoying this - was hoping that the recent DC Rebirth gimmick would give us some sort of Legends related title but that doesn't look to be the case :( I'm guessing we'll see that title launched if Legends gets a second season - unless they've stealthed it in the new Red Hood and the Outlaws title.

I think I read that DC recently launched an anthology book that's called Legends of Tomorrow but has essentially nothing to do with the show.
