It must have gone to press before this whole mess started.
Probably in mid December, a few weeks before the lawsuit was served.
Swallow was (and still is?) one of the authors connected to the Axanar novellas.

Oh, it's a line of books. The books are planned as one of a number of subsidiary activities. The books were to be the subject of (yet another) Kickstarter campaign. Here's the full list of subsidiaries listed in the Axanar annual report:
- Ares Studios (film production)
- Ares Digital (order processing and fulfillment service)
- Book publishing (Axanar novelization, The Four Years War, The Ships of Axanar)
- Scifi Film School
- AxaCon (fan convention)
I'd forgotten about that. I wonder if this will have any effect on Swallows' chances of writing more official novels?Probably in mid December, a few weeks before the lawsuit was served.

Hi all. I haven't been keeping up with this topic for the last month or so. The last thing I remember was Axanar getting some law firm to represent them. Has anything new happened since then? Thanks.

Not really. The law firm pushed the answer to the lawsuit back to this coming Monday. So. Monday or Tuesday there might be some actual real news rather than the Ouroboros like things that have been happening.
The fun will begins on this Monday according to Axanar's PR guy Mike Bawden.

They really should get their stories straight ...
From http://1701news.com/node/1001/peters-axanar-quality-spurred-lawsuit.html:
"There's a reason why 'Prelude to Axanar' and 'Axanar' look like professional movies, because we have professionals working on them," Peters said. "These are professionals. They do this for a living. They're not fans who are voice actors, or Elvis impersonators who have a hobby and have always wanted to play Capt. Kirk. That's not to knock fan films. I'm just saying, if you want volunteers, you get a certain quality. You want professionals? You've got to pay for them. It's real simple."
"'Star Trek Continues' is a fan film. Amateur actors, beautiful sets, well-done photography. But it's a fan film. There's no way you take that for a real TV show.
"'Star Trek: New Voyages'? Fan film. It looks good — well directed — but no one's ever going to take that for a network TV show."
FYI ... the response should be public by Tuesday, depending on what part of Monday it's filed, and how fast the clerks are. But I believe U.S. District Court (@jespah you might want to correct me on this) allows for electronic filing, so it should be available Monday.
Wouldn't the Axanar team see that response before it gets filed? Why would they need time to peruse it and dissect it?
Once the response is filed, there should be a motion to dismiss filed by the defense. But expect that to be denied, and the judge to rule on the injunction. Then they'll really have to make some decisions.
Do I smell a new 1701news.com article coming online in a few hours just for this? lol
