"Besides, taking on a comment like that isn't my idea of courage....it's more like suicide."

My theory is that Ben stumbled across Snoke on some planet somewhere and they struck up a friendship, with Snoke becoming another mentor who slowly influenced him to the dark side. By the time Luke and his parents realized what had happened it was to late, and he and the other Knights of Ren were already plotting to kill the rest of the Jedi.

I just realized something. Han needs to take BB8 to the Resistance. Why does he go to Maz Kanata? Why doesn't he go to Hosnian Prime? a) he would be safe from the First Order hiding behind the entire Republic fleet b) surely someone there would be able to find out where Leia is.

He is a smuggler. Likely been smuggling against Republic laws just like he was against Imperial laws. He might be a war hero, but that only goes so far with the law.

Han probably knows were the Resistance base is (even if he doesn't BB8 already told Rey and Finn were to go). He just really didn't want to get involved, nor have to own up and face Leia again. He is a little ashamed I think of what happened, and not sure what to do about it.

Yes, everything is explained to the necessary degree to understand what's happening.

Or she's a descendant of Anakin, but not Padme. After all, it gets lonely on the front lines...

I hope Rey isn't directly related to any familiar characters from the original movies (or the repulsive prequels).

It's just better if her origins stay rather vague and mysterious, IMO.

I'm still sticking to the theory that Rey is Luke's daughter that he placed into hiding to protect her safety. That means she's Padmé's granddaughter, which wouldn't be much of a surprise seeing how many fans noticed at least a passing resemblance between Daisy and Natalie Portman.

Nah, I reckon she's Luke's daughter, but he doesn't know where she's been all these years, or even that she's still alive.

Also, I'll have to see if I can pick it up when I see the film again over the weekend, but I read today people saying you could hear Padme yelling (from when she was giving birth) during the flashback.

At the 4:00 mark, Pablo Hildago actually explains away the massive plot hole of the characters on Maz's planet watching Hosnian Prime blow up. He says the Star Wars Galaxy, unlike our galaxy, experiences "simultaneity", in that the same moment occurring on Tattooine is also occurring on Coruscant. He says the laws of physics work different there than here.

I'm not saying it's a GOOD explanation, I'm just saying it's an explanation :guffaw:

Technically, that's the way our universe works too. The issue is that because of the speed of light, we don't see things happening at interstellar distances in real time.

This was better explained the way the novelization already explained it, as a side-effect of the weapon's technological handwavium. ( Even then it's not explained why the spectators on Takodana instantly know what they're seeing, so it's still not a great explanation. )

I believe he worded it to say that the person on Tattooine and the person on Coruscant looking up in the sky see the same instant of time.
