CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I see more evidence of mission creep once the dough started rolling in than planning at the outset to bilk fans, and I don't think there's anyway they could have planned all this before the first fundraiser.
This is my interpretation as well - as more and more money rolled in it must have been all too easy to allow yourself to get carried away and start seeing both the film and yourself as far more than they are. They got far more than they asked for, that shouldn't say "let's get some offices and paid staff", it should say "let's make what we're filming as good as we can, cos we can now afford better costumes/props/effects than we planned" or even "let's save that cash and make a sequel". Even without the lawsuit, Axanar was heading for a financial black hole because they got way too ambitious and self important.

There was a point Alec talked about in an interview or fundraiser site somewhere, where Alec says his director didn't want to use a fan facility and staff of another production which had been planned, but instead wanted Axanar to have its own studio and paid staff. At that point, Alec said a decision was made to realign the purpose of the second fundraiser from "pay for the filming" to be "build a studio", and do a third fundraiser for the actual filming.

Which leaves one wondering what they did with the first $600,000 they raised?

And more importantly, motivates them to write MORE negative articles. But the positive articles, SHARE, LIKE, take them out for dinner, marry them off to your daughters! Here's a visual aid.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZUmAbi0Vm4

Look, we're not going to make this personal. This is about promoting Axanar. We want to spread positive articles about Axanar and our friends, and ignore negative articles. That's how the Internet works.

I feel like I consider myself a fairly open minded, 2 sides of an argument kid of girl but I'm in no way interested in reading something with so obvious an agenda. Exactly the same reason I don't pick up the daily mail newspaper (a uk rag whose headline is basically always some version of 'they took yer jerbs!'

And this is what happens she opinion is presented as news. It's a big problem with far too many news outlets, but 1701news takes it to the level of malice. I hate people who stir the shit pot with their hate just because they like the attention.

These 1701 people ... they don't use the NCC prefix then? Why is this? Could it be that it would stand for Nasty Carping Cads? wink emoticon

A bait and switch is still a bait and switch regardless of the reasons behind it.

You're not a moderator, so you really can't tell people what to post or not post here. 1701News brings up some good points. I've agreed with most of the stuff they've posted.

Right, which is why every time they wander off their reservation and try to comment on an Axanar article posted somewhere they don't control they're overwhelmed by "negativity" - ie, people wanting answers to questions that the Axanards don't want to think about.

Someone needs to explain to twats like Morey how the Internet does work.

Ummm...look closer...that's a reprint of a facebook post from AP himself.

It's not at all clear where it's from or what it is. There's no envelope saying where it's quoted from, and the text of one of the links (to the source?) is messed up gobbledygook.

Since there's no envelope, it reads like it's your post.

Well gee...I guess I'll go in a corner and sulk somewhere.... :)

ETA: clicking on the "Messed up gobbledy gook" takes you directly to the Facebook page.

Unlike Axanar's Facebook group TrekBBS isn't just a 'positive spin' echo chamber. People here should feel free to post whatever they like as long as it's somewhat relevant to the topic at hand. If yo0u just want to see 100% positive ego stroking posts about Axanar and Mr. Peters, I suggest you stick to their Facebook page where mr. Peters Blocks or deletes ANY non-positive posts/comments about the situation.

There's little to no censorship here; and IMO that's a GOOD thing.

I'm quite aware of all that. If you want to know more about that post click

Sorry, I don't have a Facebook (or Twitter) account as I don't feel the need to broadcast my personal info about the internet (but that's me). That said, if what I quoted WASN'T posted by you (IE it's a copy/paste from something on Facebook - you may want to go back and edit that particular post as it appears to be your words per se.

Oh my god, really? Now it's starting to creep me out. Next they will start telling you who you can marry.
Quick! Dig deeper brothers! Lets make sure no outside sounds can penetrate our sandy head fortress!

I wonder how the true believers are gonna spin the "CBS hates real Trek" angle now that Bryan Fuller has been named showrunner for the new series. Dude's like a bigger trekkie than all of them combined.
Where there's delusion, there's a way...

I hadn't heard about Fuller, that is awesome news, I've loved his other shows.

Which just makes it even more worth ignoring. Of course Alec Peters isn't going to want people to look up bad stuff about him.
OK, I might need to apologize. I thought you were using that to tell us to stop posting stuff about Peters on here.

This makes sense, because of course the best place to get trustworthy news is the person the news is about. There's no way the Axanar people are going to lie or twist things to make themselves look good. Nobody ever does that.:barf:

I'm going to post links relevant to this topic, unless Greg or Bonnie tell me otherwise. This thread is neutral territory to talk about all things relevant to the Axanar case, be it viewed as positive or negative.
