CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I own some of the TOS movies and the original TV series on DVD. I have a couple of episodes of TNG on - wait for it - Laserdisc (and yeah, one of them is one of mine). And I own TWOK, ST2009 and STID on Blu-ray.

That's it, to this point.

I had a thought about the fact that people are continuing to support Peters. I think this whole thing has turned into a battle between the little guy and the big bad corporation. A lot of people seem to hate the big corporations so much that they will take every opportunity available to express that hate, even if the person they are supporting was the one who did something wrong. I can't help but wonder if that isn't part of what is going on here. People just want to support the underdog no matter what.
Yeah. That 'button' can easily be pushed for some people

It wouldn't shock me if some donors are still supportive for other reasons. I don't want to get into someone else's head but this was a financial decision they made, however large or small. A lot of people don't want to be told they screwed up in that area, or they weren't as careful as they claim they were. It can be wrapped up in their sense of themselves as mature, prudent, and competent individuals. If they admit they screwed up, it messes with some of their worldview.

I'm just spitballing here of course - it is far from my area of expertise. But I think a lot of folks just don't want to admit they messed something up.
Oh yeah. This plays out well for some people too.

People bought Star Trek:Nemesis on DVD thus proving that people will spend money on just about anything.
Heyyyyy.

I bought it on DVD. And in the blu-ray box set. I'll just go over in the corner now.
I bought it on VHS first. Then DVD. Don't use BluRay yet but if I did......

Same here. The worst thing about it? I think it has aged the best out of the TNG films.
Me too!

All of you are banned. Permanently.
Drat. :rommie:

I have TWOK on blu but it's it got the Peters special feature on it which now taints it.

Will have to burn it and pull the old VHS out of the attic*

(*Who am I kidding, I have two copies of TWOK on DVD as well as the VHS and Blu-Ray copies... :D)

I have to say I bought Nemesis twice. First copy though was I recall at discount. The second time was the special edition. I had the others in that set so I had to complete the set. In my defence I did get rid of the other copy. I will admit if, if Paramount ever releases the Star Treks 1-10 on Blu-ray with all the extras from the DVDs (and the directors cuts f 1, 2 & 6) I'll buy Nemesis again .
Oh and I read the article on the front page, was Alec Peters making a statement or giving n interview? If it was the latter and I'd been the interviewer I'd have called him out on the inconsistencies of saying on the one hand they were a professiona outfit and on the other they were just making a fan film.

With january being a bit of write off, I was hoping for a nice and quiet Monday to kick star February.

Anyone remember this podcast from December?

http://trek.fm/axp/36

At 29:00 they start a discussion about the electrical power to the building. They need 800 additional amps. They would have to hire a contractor, get permits and install a panel or two at a cost of $30,000. It sounded to me like they weren't even sure the building itself would allow that much power. That they wouldn't be able to shoot the movie in that building if they couldn't get enough power. Anyone know if this got resolved?

I bought every Trek movie on DVD. Even the bad ones. And the ones I don't watch very much. Which aren't quite the same. But I only have the good ones on Blu-Ray :D
Oh, and what a dick move from Peters slagging off the other fan films. Quelle surprise, as they say.

"Alec, we need more power!" :D

Aw c'mon, like none of you thought of that, yourselves?

I'm going to go make a nice cup of tea, now.

Yesterday was a great day as legendary Star Trek costume designer Robert Blackman came by Axanar. he is consigning his collection of Star Trek costume sketches to my auction company, Propworx, and dropped everything off.

Out of the same building, no doubt.

Meanwhile, I had more calls with the lawyers today. We actually have a second major law firm that wants to join in the case. There is a lot of good that is happening on the legal front. So stay tuned for more info as I can release it!

Another mention of the second law firm.

Finally, after a year in the lobby, our offices are ready to move in (though not fully finished – there are still doors that need to go in and some missing lights!).

More furnishing to be done instead of making the movie.

He isn't even pretending anymore. Axanar funds have provided him a ready resource so he can build and strengthen his for profit business.
I also enjoy how many business lunches Mr. Minimum Wage includes as part of his regular schedule. Must be nice.

Since when does a law firm get a case, and then "share" it with another firm that "wants" to be a part? If the case is that desirable, why share?

That was for filming stock footage of "alien food", surely.
Remember all those expensive hotel bills?
Probably "alien planet hotel interior" location scouting.
