It seems wrong to join a Fleet and not particular in it.

Eh, not like we role play or anything. Jump in, take a little when you need it, toss in items or marks or whatever when you have extra, no biggie. You need fleet marks to get a lot of endgame stuff, so gotta join a fleet to donate things so you can earn them anyway...

I haven't been able to find the answer so can anyone tell me? If I unlock the new Krenim Science Vessel will it only be for that character or is it an account unlock?

    Both.
It is a per character, but at the same time all yor characters can get it free in the event reputation store.
    Speaking ships.
Free give away is the Sao Paolo, the T4 Defiant refit with the quadcannons as well as the KDF and Romulan counterparts.
So remember to log in on one character of each faction to claim them all.

Well I remember why I took a break. I am constantly crashing tring to play Time and Tide. The space battle is constantly killing me and crashing the game. I have updated my graphics driver and that didn't help. I am playing on Win 8.1 with directx 11. Any hints on how I can p;lay?

The more and more I read, the more and more I feel that my approach this game has been wrong from the get-go. I'm considering starting over again with a new character, but I really doubt my laptop can handle the game, with it's i3 processor Radeon 1GB graphic card......

*EDIT* Holy sh*t, I need over 2 gig of patching........

Did you try running in safe mode. Lots of people have problems with D11.

The lowest graphic settings? I run it on a laptop with intergrated Intel graphic card through Linux and it works.

Maybe that'll work. Not sure what setting it's on right now.

I guess joining a fleet would also be a good idea, never did that.

Tried it, crashes in safe mode. I also tried changing my compatability mode to Win XP which I never had a problem with and still crashes. I can't get past that first space battle so trying to play is basically a waste of time unless anyone has any other suggestions.

I've had similar issues, my solution was to run using direct x 9, and turn on reduced file streaming from the advanced menu. this also stopped the game crashing on map transfers for me.

I have tried that as well. It still crashes. I even have my graphics turned all the way down to mininums and it doesn't work.

I like that they added a Battle Cloak to the Defiant 3 piece Set, but the down side is taking up console slots. I think the cloak on the T6 Defiant should have been an innate ability not a console from a previous tier.

Why should it be an innate ability? Only the USS Defiant had a cloaking device, lent to them by the romulan government. The rest of the class didn't have them.

besides you don't use more console spots than before to get this ability, because the 3rd set piece is the quad cannons. but of course it's best used on a phaser build.

Do you have to go through Arc? I don't use the arc client... Or is the mac killer more than that? (Can't get to that link from here).

I'm going to have to install a windows bootcamp partition, but the only version of windows I've got these days is vista :barf2:

Anyway, the mac client is still working for now and I can always use the wine emulator to run STO on my mac.

The post mentioned using the Wine Windows emulator software, so there isn't a need for a separate bootcamp partition or dualbooting. In otherwords, you can run the Windows STO client directly from within Mac OSX using Wine.

There's a quote from a player in the STO forum which does suggest Wine runs Cryptic's Windows STO Client better than Cryptic's Mac STO Client.. "While this is slightly disappointing, it's not terribly surprising. The Mac version of STO has been quite a struggle recently, with constant crashes. That being said, it can be run via Wine pretty effectively (and to be honest, I've had better luck keeping a game running with Wine than with the Transgaming official version)."

I use it on Linux, through Wine. It works. I can't use high graphic settings (not sure it's because of the emulation or my Intel integrated card), but I can play the game.
