Sorry for the possible spoiler.. no more details from my side..

Not your fault, Kiwein; it does say "SPOILERS" in big letters right in the thread title. :p

Yep - it is accepted that people reviewing the book will have to discuss spoilers - so all of our review threads are marked as such. Obviously it's up to the individual poster as to whether they want to put their remarks behind a spoiler button anyway, but anyone who is reading this thread knows there will be open spoilers posted.

Equally - warning to anyone new - ALL REVIEW THREADS ARE ALLOWED TO CONTAIN OPEN SPOILERS.

I ordered Pocket full of lies but the shipping of the book was delayed due to the bad weather problems. I will be glad to read this novel when it finally comes in the mail. It's well worth the wait..:bolian: It took me awhile to get Atonement that was a fantastic story.

Kirsten please do not be inhibited in having spoilers in your posts.
Sort became more interesting with the app of the denzit. STO linkage may also be involved

What is this about STO? Never played it so I wouldn't notice anything referenced. And I'd also be very surprised if it were the case.

star Trek online has had missions in the DQ for a while and have interfered with races encountered by Voyager. I did mean to imply Kristen was influenced by the game.

Denzit Janeway seems to be alluding to some episode or novel I've completely forgotten, as the explanation for her existence.
Could somebody enlighten me?

That was simply amazing. As always, Kirsten's work with these established characters in spot on, and the new characters are as good as ever. Nancy's story not only broke my heart, but Kirsten's willingnes to approach this subject in TrekLit..... Hoorah!!!!

As for the overall plot.... There were some points where the temporal mechanics had me unfocused for a bit, but it helped that Kirsten didn't make it the main issue, so it was easy enough to simply accept that it happens in a certain way and move on.

Including Q in the end was a lovely touch, and wrapped up that little hanging thread perfectly, without actually making a huge fuss about it. Perfect. Just perfect.

Overall, simply another great entry into Voyager's ongoing story. Everytime Kirsten announces a new novel, I get excited. A little dread is in there as well, where I think, will this finally be to much for her? Is she still capable of coming up with good new stories for this part of TrekLit? And the answer is, yes. She really is.

At this stage I think I have run out of adjectives to describe how wonderful the Voyager novels are. I really enjoyed this one.
What I love about Voyager is that we get to spend a lot of time with so many characters and each get their moment which is something that frustrates me about DS9 where there are lots of character but we only spend time with a small few.
My other favourite thing about the Voyager novels are the beginnings and endings where we do a little tour visiting all the characters to see what is new in their lives before and after the adventure in the middle.

These books really are perfect.

I could not agree more. By this point, Kirsten has this down to a science - every character matters, every scene matters, the pacing is perfect, every twist makes sense... this book is just so damn good at everything. Tuvok was incredible, his presence was remarkable for the narrative here, and both Janeways were amazing and made such a fascinating contrast, and Harry and Nancy broke my heart and put it back together again, and it's awesome to not have Year of Hell just be a reset button, and I loved how the Krenim were less aggressive but still way not allies, it just goes on and on. Amazing characters, fascinating stories, and a million things going on in each book. Doesn't get any better than this.

I finished it today. I really love that the Q appear again since they don't seem to get much attention since Q&A. Sooo. When is the next book published? This year?

Next year is the earliest we will see one as the rest of this year's releases have been announced and no Voyager.

I'm sorry we won't be seeing a new book for a while but for me I'm am coming to the close of a Voyager re-watch with hubbie. (he had never seen some of these episodes when they originally aired) so that means I have to go through ALL the re-luanch novels...again. :D

I never know if I should read the Destiny trilogy as a jumping off place or not...but I usually wind up starting there.

Hmm. Rather slow starting, and
Denzit Janeway's backstory referenced one episode I barely remembered ("Year of Hell"), and one I'd completely forgotten ("Shattered")
.

On the other hand, by the time it was revealed that
Mollah was Denzit Janeway's daughter,
, I was already beginning to suspect it, and when I learned that
Mollah's foster-father was named Quinn, I immediately figured Q had to be involved somehow, give that Quinn was the name taken by the suicidal Q.

I finally got Pocket full of lies in the mail. I can't wait to start reading this book soon.:techman:

I am a *very* long time lurker, but this is the first time I am actually posting.

I am an avid reader of the novels and have a very special place in my heart for the Voyager series. That being said, I think Ms. Beyer has done an outstanding job with the relaunch books and very much enjoyed A Pocket Full of Lies. I gobbled the book up basically in a day.

*Minor Spoilers*
It only helped that I loved the concepts discussed in Year of Hell and Shattered is one of my favorite episodes, but the story Ms. Beyer paints is well thought out and the pace of the book is fantastic. I love that this next book can go almost anywhere and yet there are so many "nuggets" to take on from A Pocket Full of Lies. The character moments were excellent. And of course I loved the "Poor Harry!" moment and can't wait to see what happens with Nancy and Harry. Oh and I actually laughed out loud with the name Mollah.

A Pocket Full of Lies is certainly in my "very favorites" category. I am thrilled that Ms. Beyer is contracted for more novels. The wait might be painful and long but certainly worth it.
