The Expanse digital premiere is available NOW!

The incident with the Scipio Africanus and the ice freighter occurs in the book - but we only ever hear about it and never see it.

I'm guessing the freighter gets destroyed to cement the conclusion to that thread from the books.

The kid on the freighter IS the same kid that Miller busted for stealing water on Ceres - but he's also supposed to be Diogo, the same character that Miller befriends when he arrives on Tycho. He's involved in the assault on Thoth and the finale when everyone heads back to Eros. I'm guessing that the Roci may pick Diogo up on the way past to their first stop on Eros.

I could have been without those belter miner scenes, they didn't really add much. I'd much rather have more time with the Rocinante crew and Fred Johnson, because it seemed like we missed a couple of scenes. Things happened rather quickly and seemed too rushed.

But I continue to really like the Miller plot line, Thomas Jane (Miller) and Jared Harris (Anderson) are *killing* it with their material.

I was under the impression the guy in the video Miller found was the guy Fred Johnson sent Holden and crew to find. Don't quite know what the deal is with the uncle and nephew, that part isn't from the books (oops, should I have spoiler coded that?) They were both introduced in this episode.
Although IMDB claims the nephew will be in all the remaining episodes of the season.
See, not so hard to do spoilers. :) But it is appreciated!

You asked earlier about if any show had gotten rid of (or killed off) its lead actor in season 1... Surely you have heard of Game of Thrones?

This is obviously a popular thread about a current TV show, so please remember the spoiler guidelienes as posted in the pinned thread. ;)

TV Lopez is a mixture of two book characters. One named Lopez, one not.
Easily one of the stronger actors, I don't care much for the main cast
the show would be kind of dead if it were not for the detective plots with Jared Harris, Athena Karkanis, Thomas Jane...the main cast are like RPG characters, they need lots of digital fx and explosions to carry their story
Pity they did not write more material for Lopez, nice find this actor and its a shame to cut him

If they start the season 2 I hope the film makers and directors get their heads screw on this time

My timing with the book has worked out pretty well. I keep hitting plot points just as they pop up in the show. If I'm lining things up right, then the people on Ceres just heard about mining ship being destroyed second hand. As for the show's scenes on the mining ship being unnecessary, I think it's just another step in the building conflict between Mars and The Belt.
I noticed that the scenes between Dawes and Miller seem a lot more hostile here than in the books. So far their encounters in the books have been fairly civil.
I'm really enjoying both the show and the book right now.
It's looking like the two plotlines might be starting to converge soon.

I'll buy it. It's the best looking scifi ever on TV. It'll look even better on bluray.

I think the belter miner scenes are extremely important. We're getting a big build up in tension.

Episode 8 was the best one yet. Great tension during the Anubis exploration, and a shockingly great shoot-out on Eros. It is great to see some plot lines intersections now.

I didn't have the sound up too far since everyone else was in bed, so I had a bit of trouble understanding some parts. Did they say who owns the Anubis? (No book spoilers please!)

Also, bit of a funny moment for me when they showed the puck shaped device that Alex was using to pilot the Rocinante. I have that exact same device sitting here on my desk! It's a SpaceExplorer by 3dconnexion that I use to manipulate models in 3D CAD programs. (They were possibly using the similar SpacePilot, I'd have to see it again to be sure.) I suppose it's fitting that they're using it to control a spacecraft! :D

It was nice to finally see things start to come together. Miller showing up during the shoot out was a cool moment.
I was pretty shocked to see that Julie is (apparently) dead. I was expecting them to find her alive on Eros.
I'm very curious what has Fred Johnson so shocked, could he possibly know who the stealth ships belong to? (This is a rhetorical question, not a request for book spoilers)

And the Belter ship blown up by the Martian navy ship a couple of weeks back was flown with a Thrustmaster joystick :)

Whatever they were firing in the shootout left some quite big wholes

Have a recollection from the books (which could be wrong), that the guns fired a rocket projectile or the like which didn't accelerate until leaving the barrel to reduce recoil (thus making them better to use in zero-g).

Swapped a few tweets with one of the writers today about how jam packed the next two episodes must be given what has yet to happen from the books - and he said that they've never said that it will be one book per season. But I'm struggling to see where an earlier breaking point for a season break would be ...

Unless they pull the events on Thoth Station into the second season - and just have the loss of Eros and the Nauvoo in the first season, taking place without the knowledge gained on Thoth.

It's possible - after all they've introduced Miss Pottymouth (Chrisjen) from the get go.
