New major alien civilization in Trek 3/XIII?

No.

As a geezer I like the look of the Swarm soldiers because they remind me of the way aliens often looked in the original Outer Limits tv series.

I'm a fan of the "swarm" concept in regards to the ships shown. (Also of new alien species.)

It's a nice contrast to the big honking bad guy ships of the previous two movies.

I actually really liked the klingon re-design of Into Darkness. The only thing that irked me was that the klingon had no facial hair. But that could have been easily a personal choice/genetics of this special individual.

The behind-the-scenes reason was that his moustache kept falling off when he put off his helmet. I actually really would have liked Idris Ela as a klingon. The one still of him in this "new alien"-make-up looked kind of generic. But I'm waiting to see more of him before I judge...

I'm still hoping for Andorians in this. I'd hate to change my career completely and become a successful screenwriter just to get the Andorians the recognition they deserve...

Indeed.

They, and the Vulcans, had quite a dynamic that most of the older fans didn't predict. I liked that the Vulcans really weren't the more benevolent species, rather no better than the "savage" Andorians.

Spoken like a typical Andorian-lover. ;)
