The old '90s Action Collection (12-inch) R2-D2 figures were solid and looked awesome for their time. They still hold up excellently today and look better than the 6-inch R2-D2 figure that was released in the Black Series.

Yeah, last year I almost bought the Black Series 6 inch R2-D2, but I held back. I'm glad I did.
The figure in the picture is the same scale as the more detailed Sideshow R2-D2, but I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend (considering i got this one for $4 at the flea market).

I don't buy Sideshow Collectibles. Way too expensive when you can just find the next-best things in a store or at a flea market and pay a fraction of what a Sideshow release costs. Most of them look amazing, but they're just not anywhere in my price range!
yeah, I agree. I would recommend Sphero BB-8. Later this year, they will make it so you can actually use the Force to control him.
Imagine all the fun and cool things the filmmakers will come up with for BB-8 to do in Episode VIII. The toymakers and electronics companies are going to have to work hard to keep up with the new movies. I imagine they could just re-release the current Sphero BB-8 and make a couple of small changes to reflect any new look or features he has in the next film.
Yeah the new wrist-controlled version will have more weathering and faded colors.
BTW Sphero is an awesome company. While on patrol, my BB-8 broke his antenna (which is just decoration) and they sent me a free new one, overnight delivery. Now I have a head exclusively for patrols and one for display

yeah. I think it really was. Its a $150 toy, but so worth it! The customer service is part of it I think

I've had my BB-Ate since it first came out, I really need to open that thing. Maybe today, I'll charge it up.
I should receive in the mail today a NECA brand 1954 styled Godzilla figure. It looked interesting enough from the promo shots, so i risked the modest 27 dollars (cost and shipping).
Last night I stumbled across several YouTube "reviews" and was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming praise for this lil' guy. A couple who usually preferred the SH MonsterArts line said they would recommend this NECA figure over MonsterArts! Honestly, I don't know much about either company, but I do know how people can be about "brand loyalty".
Anyway, here's an official promo image, but I'll say the final product looks AS good!
Yes, this puppy has enough points of movement to be used as a stop-motion animation puppet! Even the jaw and the fingers (not just the wrists) are hinged! In fact, I saw a short clip (less than 10 seconds) of someone animating this figure and all the points in the neck and head allowed for some VERY fluid movement!
I just hope my copy does not have any major manufacturing defects. Barring that chance, the product design is fantastic and fans swear it's one of the best proportioned likenesses of the original Gojira. (I have a Bandai figure with 5 swivel points of movement and the head is a smidgen undersized.)

I'm not into Godzilla but I must say that this is pretty great! The fingers look awesome. Do you plan to do animation with it? It surely is hard work, I also did not manage more than a few seconds once.
I problably could animate this guy. That's from Figma, "The Thinker". I already also ordered their "Venus" (it comes with arms!) and "David" statue.
Please forgive the crappy pictures, these were done with the old camera. He comes with a second back (as the one when he is sitting is kinda twisted), another head and several hands. And at night, he comes alive!

Well, the Shelf Avengers have been moved to their new home (just two shelves down!). Unfortunately, there have been casualties. Karnak and the Scarlet Witch are missing! They must have fallen out of the box. So my next Shelf Avenger adventure will have to be "The Search for Wanda and Karnak"!

I hope you find them soon! One of the only things more annoying than misplacing a figure itself is losing one of their accessories.

What you see is: Jack O’Neill lying on a gurney, the doctor looking at an x-ray, and in the background Sam brings the spider that bit Jack but it jumps off, walks over the desk and then Teal’c crushes it with his foot. It's all over very quickly and I haven't tried it since.

Well, certainly a lot less time than stop motion given the artist employed "real time" puppeteering. But I'm sure it took long enough considering he replicated every shot of that famous chase scene!
BTW, my '54 Godzilla arrived yesterday without shipping damage or manufacturing defects. He's even got that "baleful stare" his eyes had in that one particular publicity poster. My collection is very modest, just 6 figures now that I have this one, but he's instantly my favorite!
