The Original Outline for "The Cage" With Gene's Handwritten Notes

This is very cool! I've seen this (though, perhaps not with the hand-written notes -- I can't remember) at UCLA, but hopefully they'll be releasing stuff that isn't in the public collection at all in the next year. :)

That's my hope as well!

Same here! I'm the most curious to see what they end up releasing in terms of script material. I've got hopes for some of the interim drafts of The Motion Picture that haven't leaked out previously.

Or any of the projects leading up to TMP, such as THE GOD THING and THE PLANET OF THE TITANS.

Thanks Ryan!

Any thoughts on a single sticky thread for all of this new content for those of us not on the face book? With appropriate links to Roddenberry.com of course.

I'm looking forward to some never before seen Phase II material -- specifically set and miniature photos, Robert Abel & Associates / ASTRA material from TMP (Memory Wall anyone?), and BTS TOS photos (again, sets and miniatures).

Interesting stuff!

I tried to color correct the Cage slide. I think it's remarkable what can be done with these kind of images.

Cool! More stuff that's also at UCLA, but the censor memos from the pilot are pretty interesting, so I'm glad they're sharing them.

Those notes by Roddenberry are interesting (though your link doesn't work on that one for me). 100 women on the enterprise. Alden and Sulu are explicitly identified as minor characters. And the poem from Mitchell is a papyri se of something Rodenberry wrote during WWII. Cool.

Those notes on WNMHGB seem to have been written some time after the fact...as if he were making notes of what was different in the episode from later production episodes.

Fixed the link. Hopefully that helped.

E-yup. I suspect this was when they were looking at the pilot and deciding if they could air it as an episode, pointing out continuity issues.

This one is puzzling; was it definitely written by Roddenberry? It doesn't seem like his writing style, and it refers to "Gene Roddenberry" in the last paragraph. Nothing against Roddenberry.com, but they have misidentified the source of memos before.

They also seem to be comparing WNMHGB to The Cage, not to the series to follow. It also seems to be referring to both the filmed episode and the outline / script ("100 women on board").

Not sure what the overall purpose of this would be, but it must've been written around the airing of "The Man Trap" since that was when the "Space, the final frontier" narration was hastily written. It also doesn't look like a de Forest Research memo, but maybe Harvey would better recognize the tells.
