This is beyond stupid. Has he no idea how the internet works? Everything one says online is out there for all to see...including CBS' layers.

All true. Regardless of who was running things, Paramount or CBS, this was going to happen when a new series ramped up. Add to it that the new series is going to be a online-series; which could me shows like Axanar, STC, Renegades, etc, might be viewed as leeches or "confusing the market". Fan-series/films were just sitting ducks.

    (Edit)

This is probably going to be the end of getting former-series cast and crew to work/help on fan productions.

Well he is portraying Garth of Izar, after all. Megalomania would appear to be an occupational hazard of taking on the role.

Looks like all the complaints about Alec and his inflated ego and general tendency to be unhinged were pretty on the mark.

If I could take strong amusement from some of the posts being made I would, but I just can't.

People have this sense of righteous indignation, as if they(Axanar) have any real chance of defending themselves in this case.

I thought most fan film producers, from the smallest humblest, to the largest of the large, knew we all operated only as far as CBS was willing to let us. Heck, by comparison to say Fox? CBS was most amicable. Even going out of their way to establish a few rules. So it's not as if they're being unfair about this. Lot's of people had sniffed out something fishy about Axanar's financial situation...

Indeed. The comments section on the Axanar Facebook page are just unreal. The level of denial going on over there is almost a laugh riot, as if they are somehow being wronged.

From their own fundraiser page listed under Risks and Challenges

"There are always risks and challenges when making a film - actors dropping out, locations and/or sets not being available, unforeseen costs, equipment trouble, inclement weather, etc. In addition, "Star Trek" is a licensed property of CBS and so they have the final say in any Star Trek venture. However, the Axanar team has dealt with CBS and knows the landscape which must be navigated. Every member of the Axanar team is also a professional, and has proven his or her skills on other projects and films."

I think it really is that simple and Axanar knows it.

I'd fund a film of the courtroom drama.

Wow. Well, I can't say I'm surprised although I am sorry to see this happen. Its too bad they didn't get anything more than a scene produced. I would have loved to have seen what they had planned. Still, the idiocy behind the statements from Peters, Burnett and some of these supporters is just baffling. Just because Peters was (key point-- why is he not any longer?) an attorney doesn't mean he has a leg to stand on.

For many years, Paramount and CBS ignored fans infringing on their copyrights. Like others have said, they crossed a lot of lines, and they kept saying they could do it better. Well, now they can't do it at all. They will lose and lose badly. And frankly, for the arrogant attitude they've shown since I've been aware of this, I hope they get brought down hard.

And if Burnett thinks he'll get another gig doing home video extras through any National Amusements property, he's even more of a moron than I think he is now. That Twitter feed is leaving him particularly fucked.

    New HT for Axanar.

    #Resistanceisfutile

    :lol::(

    Ugh...

People are literally talking about 3D printing middle fingers and sending them to "Paramount."

    Yeah. That'll totally work.

Yup. As much as I'm interested in the final Axanar project (assuming it even gets done now) this guy seems to have fallen off the deep end.

This will probably be more interesting than the movie.

Maybe when they get to court, they'll claim it was intended as a parody. :p Those are protected, after all.
