Today is Festivus!

Bring the pole out of the crawlspace and we're going to have the Airing of the Grievances!

State your Grievance here!

Some rules:

1. Keep the Grievance within board-rules. Do not air a grievance about another poster, board staff, etc. Stick to more general, or personal-life issues.

2. Grievances may not be challenged. This is a season for all of us to get stuff off our chests. What bothers one, may not bother others, one need not justify their problems.

So, air away! I have a lot of problems with this world!

Well, now that I did some googling and actually know what Festivus is this time , I guess I do have some things to grieve about:

- Rain

- The wrong team won the World Series this year

- Having SW shoved in my face every ten seconds gets kind of old

I'm really, really tired of the U.S. Presidential campaign already -- and we've got a long way to go.

God yes...the Christmas commercials haven't been annoying me this year, but the wall-to-wall Star Wars tie-in advertising has been driving me up the wall!

People who act like 5 miles over the speed limit is too slow and in some cases 10! If it says 35 - 45 is too slow, 45 - 55 is too slow. They jerk their car around you, get in front and then there is a stop light! WHAT!?!? I will always end up at a stop light with people who weave in and out of traffic to "get ahead". Ugh.

ETA: I should add in the 5 miles between my house and work on a single stretch of a 4 lane highway there are 8 traffic lights and people act like it is NASCAR between each light.

That Festivus isn't an internationally recognized celebration held in high esteem everywhere!!!!

Ok, getting into the spirit of things now with the grievances:

- Snotty theater actors who act like it's somehow beneath them to do TV or movies

- "Zero Tolerance" school board policies

- Donald Trump

- "The People vs. George Lucas". REALLY?

- Black Friday

- Philadelphia sports fans who think it's a good idea to harass and abuse any visiting fan they come across (and no, I didn't just pull this off the Internet...I have personally experienced it)

- When perfectly good TV shows can't be released on home video without butchering the hell out of them (WKRP, Quantum Leap) because of some stupid issue with the music

- "Now get the hell out of our galaxy. Both of you!"

- Patent Trolls

- SW fans who can't get it through their heads that, yes, some people DO like the prequels

The secret to enjoying Black Friday--Do the exact opposite of what they want you to do: Stay home. Good day to dig out the Christmas decorations. You couldn't pay me to go shopping on Black Friday.

Grievance: Black Friday/Cyber Monday-themed spam emails from sites like Amazon that don't stop after Black Friday or Cyber Monday. "It's not too late--Great Black Friday Deals!" Yes, it is too late, go away.

Also I have a grievance against anything that has to do with "trigger warnings", "microaggression" and/or "safe zones". Get over yourselves, people.

I'm tired of coming here and feeling like I'm talking to air. It's one of the reasons why I haven't posted much on the board this year. I still like it here, but maybe I'm outgrowing it.

I'll be sure to tell my sister, who suffers from well-documented PTSD due to her service in the Middle East, that she should just get over her triggers.

Edit: I'll tell that to everyone at my next AA meeting, too, that they should get over themselves and triggers don't exist.

Is it too late to air a grievance? Because Donald Trump has been making me mad since he started running for the presidency of The USA. Someone needs to prick him with a needle so all the hot air can be let out. "Pompous windbag" doesn't even begin to describe his over-inflated ego. He's a total jerk to immigrants and people he disagrees with, and he's dumb as a box of rocks. I wouldn't trust this guy with mall security, let alone that of an entire nation.

Also, he couldn't smooth a silk sheet if he had a hot date with a babe... I lost my train of thought.

@Timby, I am sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the kind of wishy-washy political correctness that seems to have infested college campuses and places like that (where anything that might conceivably be an inconvenience to anyone is slapped with a warning). I certainly didn't mean to insult legitimate uses of the concept.
