Ah, so non-mission maps for the most part.

It was a nice improvement. I never bothered with changing them between ground and space, so I was a kind of poor "jack of all trades". It's certainly great to have them separated and expanded.

Yeah, you had to set them before a mission.
When you go on a story mission that features space and ground you can't change traits in teh middle of it, unless you warp out to sector space after completing the space part, and go back in to do the ground part.

Now moot of course.

The only bit that is still the case is with the active reptutation clickie powers.
At the moment the best you can do there is to unlock the 5th active trait slot and go with a 3/2 spilt on powers. :)

This is a great idea! I've tried changing my traits before beginning a ground mission but they seem locked into place. Hopefully this new upgrade will allow that to not happen.

Did you try to do it on the ground? You can change them in sector space only, AFAIK.

Traits are only changable in what Cryptic deem as "Social Zones". This means Sector Space or most of the space stations like Earth Space Dock, Starfleet Academy, Starbase 234, Deep Space 9, Qo'Nos, New Romulus, etc...
I was trying to be cool by changing my traits before starting a mission and noticed that I couldn't. I just set most of my traits to space and never bothered with them again

When did this new trait layout get introduced? I just took a look at it and noticed that most of my traits were turned off! I've played a solid 15 missions like this! The sad thing is, I did not notice not having them on.

Edit: How does one go about getting active reputation? It is currently the only reputation I lack.

A few weeks ago, when S11 was introduced.

Plans for my toons are to get them all command cruisers, save for my Romulan Tac Officer who will get an awesome bird in space that is the equivalent of the command cruiser. The ships will all be turret boats, although I may try something different for my Romulan.

Currently, I have all my toons (save for my Federation sci officer) in Nandis, but as aforementioned I'm trying to get them into Federation or Romulan vessels.

Since it is expensive at 3, 000 zen per ship, it will take me awhile to get each toon her ship. Not too mention, it will take awhile to upgrade those ships, primarily the weapons, consoles, etc.

Do you want each of them fly a different one (as in each Fed has a different ship)? If not, you could consider getting one of the bundles: one Fed, one Rom, and one KDF ship for the price of 6K ZEN, so one free. If there is such a bundle, that is. Not in game now, so I can't check if it's a case for command battlecruisers. Would be a bit cheaper ;)

My Romulan friend is very happy with the Deihu variant of Command Battlecruisers. It's his favourite ship to fly, and he has almost all of the ships available.

I'm just waiting to get my hands on the Rezreth. 4 more days.

And hoping for a T6 Sovereign, and hopelessly hoping for a SCI romulan ship some day.

Yeah, a bundle would be nice for my Fed officers; I want them each (Fed sci, Fed, eng, Fed tac) to have their own command cruiser.

It's going to be a loooong project, especially since I found out that it is possible to upgrade consoles like the RCS thingy so my cruiser will have a better turn rate. A lot of dil, a lot of grinding, and a lot of time.

But hey, that's the game.

Thanks for the recommendation for the Deihu.

Speaking of RCS consoles: those from the fleet mine are good (give additional resistance), and not that expensive to upgrade. I think I used featured episodes upgrade for upgrading mine, so it cut the dil costs significantly.

Joel, just checking, but you are aware z-store purchases are normally account wide for ships, right? Unless you want different variants for each toon, you need only buy once. After that, any toon in the same faction can get the ship free, and you can delete and reclaim for free. :-)

That's true! I didn't even think about that.

I'm going to have to check my fleet's mine, then. I'm all for saving time and dil.

Thanks, again.

[EDIT: Checked my fleet's mine: The ECS consoles available are pretty cool! I'm going to have to check with the fleet holdings before I spend EC on any items].

Very true.

But yeah, I do want different ships for my toons. (All command cruisers, but applicable to their job focus). I'm going to do a quick check now to see if there is a bundle I can work towards.

Thanks, though.... :)

There are 4 bundles I believe.
1 Fed with all 3 command cruisers
Same for KDF
And 1 Rom with all 3 Command Warbirds
And 1 mega bundle containing all 9 ships.

Need some advice: My main computer, the one I use to game, decided to shit the bed when Windows tried to go from 7 to 10. Loaded Ubuntu on it, installed Play On Linux but STO hangs on startup, suggestions?

Did you check what the console spits out?

I use Wine, and set it to open STO in a windowed mode. It froze on full screen when I run it the second time after installation. I run it in a maximised window (but not full screen mode) since.

Best to take a look at the console error report.

Go back to Win7 and start over?
Had considered it, but frankly the pros of what I'm getting out of Ubuntu is outweighing the annoyance of not playing STO.

I'll do that the next time I boot it up. Thanks.

With the crafting weekend coming up ... over the last few days been working on AP DBB Mk XIV [Ac/Dm] [CrtDx4] - currently it's mark 13, and 100,000 tech points from being mark 14. Thinking either selling on exchange, trading or keeping. Also just crafted another AP DBB mk II [CrtDx3], so I might sell that one after it's finished.
