We're discussing stylistic preferences for flags, I would think that its pretty obvious we're talking about opinions here...

I wouldn't say I like it in that case, I'd say I have no opinion on it one way or another. It's certainly not as offensive to my eyes as a big black bar taking up a third of a flag, or as in the case of the NZ flag some odd shaped glob of black filling up the a sizable portion of the top of the flag.

If the new flag doesn't win I think Australia should steal it, tweak it a bit sure, but steal it. And vote on it and install it. This would be a huge troll.
Having a leaf on the flag is not a bad idea. Canada has it. The proposed new flag for NZ also has a similar idea.

The results are in. New Zealand voted to keep her old flag. It was 56.6 % to 43.2% in favor of the old flag.

I am disappointed. A new kiwi flag might have resulted in a few more countries changing their flag to keep up with the times.
