Maybe various individuals have produced them over time, but are there any "official" tests, that perhaps have appeared in books, manuals, or commonly on sites like this one, that allege to confer the title of "True Trekker" on those that can master a representative number of the challenging questions, a la the football test in Diner? I imagine that such an A-Level exam would have to include questions from all iterations (series and films) except the Abramsverse, naturally!!!

Anyway, such fodder has likely bounced around here from time to time, but I've not seen such a thread even during my rather longer days as a lurker. So, what's the scoop?

Whatever the answer, it would be entertaining if any interested parties ran off a truncated version of their own design in the thread. If there's any takers, I would think 10 questions might be a reasonable limit, for the sake of keeping things within bounds, as long as the correct responses are to the point and not particularly elaborate. However, people could certainly provide variations as they saw fit.

1. Do you like any aspect of Star Trek in any of its many iterations, enough to make any level of effort to view the show, read related material, etc?

If yes, congratulations, you are a Star Trek fan. Proceed to Question 2.

2. Does your enthusiasm for the Star Trek franchise extend to anything beyond merely consuming licensed Star Trek materials?

If yes, congratulations, you are a Trekkie or Trekker - whichever you choose. Proceed to question 3.

3. Did the idea of being called a "Trekkie" piss you off if you are a Trekker? Did the idea of being called a "Trekker" piss you off if you are a Trekkie?

If yes, please seek psychiatric help. ;)

4. Have you ever spend exorbitant amounts of money on poor-quality bootleg Trek blooper reels at Star Trek conventions?

This is certainly true for me , but might be cutting things off generationally, since a lot of that is available on YouTube or... through other avenues on the Internet... now. ;)

Maybe you could use a version of the Geek Code? It's a bit dated now, but perhaps it could be adapted. (I'm a t++, BTW. :D)

t+++ It's not just a TV show, it's a religion. I know all about warp field dynamics and the principles behind the transporter. I have memorized the TECH manual. I speak Klingon. I go to cons with Vulcan ears on. I have no life.

t++ It's the best show around. I have all the episodes and the movies on tape and can quote entire scenes verbatim. I've built a few of the model kits too. But you'll never catch me at one of those conventions. Those people are kooks.

t+ It's a damn fine TV show and is one of the only things good on television any more.

t It's just another TV show.

t- Maybe it is just me, but I have no idea what the big deal with Star Trek is. Perhaps I'm missing something but I just think it is bad drama.

t-- Star Trek is just another Space Opera. William Shatner isn't an actor, he's a poser! And what's with this Jean-Luc Picard? A Frenchman with a British accent? Come on. I'd only watch this show if my remote control broke. Isn't Voyager just a rehash of Lost in Space? Has Sisko even breathed in the last two seasons?

t--- Star Trek SUCKS! It is the worst crap I have ever seen! Hey, all you trekkies out there, GET A LIFE! (William Shatner is a t---)
