Is Beyond a ripoff of Galaxy Quest? Or itself?

We have a new bad guy that sounds and looks a lot like the main villain from Galaxy Quest. A planet similar to where they needed a new beryllium sphere. Lots of little flying things breaking the ship. "You broke the bloody ship".

Other things of annoyance: when will Nu-Kirk keep his ship? Prime Kirk was a clever tactician and an ass kicking machine. I'm getting tired of seeing this guy constantly lose or nearly lose his ship. There's nothing special that sets Nu-Kirk apart from the hopeless idiot of the week captains we see on TOS and TNG.

Spock assigned to another vessel? Just like STID? His patch says U.S.S. Franklin. The intro of this trailer is strangely dubbed.

Maybe in this movie we can finally get a bad guy with a really big ship that's a huge threat to earth and the Enterprise. Orrrrr has that been done the last 4 movies?
