Very confusing episode, it feeled hasty.
I liked the Rumple twist, but it was not clear to me how Excalibur was enchanted, I mean, he just happened to have a super magic portion around with enought power to mess with Excalibur, but he did not use it earlier. Also, how about those black "waves" of darkness that entered the sword but never left it to enter Rumple? (I may be wrong but I do not remember any "waves" leaving Emma either.)
The whole family leaving like that was also a bit lame in my opinion. They just left the babies behind and set off to hell...
Mid-season and season finales are always hasty in OuaT, but this one was too hasty I think.
I hope the rest of the season will be good.

Well, according to one candidate for president, "re"tweeting (AKA "what someone else said") doesn't carry the same culpability as "tweeting" (AKA "What I said").
I like the actress's feisty portrayal and hope we see that cut scene in the future... like after our heroes return from hell in the 2nd half of the season.
I suspect the actress felt compelled to comment on the missing scene since she had touted it prior to the midseason finale.
"How" that potion messed with Excalibur is a good question.
It seemed when he poured it on the sword as if something was changed in the engraving of Killian's name. Why the power then decided to leave Killian and go into Gold without visible evidence was definitely not explained.
As for Emma's darkness, I just assumed we didn't "see" the darkness when it leached from her to the pirate during their frantic hug, just before she lost the white look and her clothes changed back to normal.
Well, I liked the finale (although I too noticed the absence of the Camelot people) up until that twist with Rumpel. That was the exact kind of reverse character development that made for some of the worst parts of earlier seasons.
Seriously, how often have the seemingly reformed villains Rumpel and Regina turned back into villains in the past?! I was really hoping we were past that stuff by now. At least, Regina isn't turning evil again.
Beside that, it kinda feels like that past arc was, well, for nothing. Really, the Dark One is still around, and it's even Rumpel again. Aside from Robin now having a baby daughter, what happened (and no, I don't count Hook's death, because he obviously won't stay dead).

So not only is Rumpy the Dark One again, but he was planning it all along, while he was supposedly rehabilitated and becoming heroic. There are certain things about this storyline-- another one being Merlin saying that they should find Nimue because she is the key to destroying the Darkness, which was never addressed again-- that make me think there were massive last-minute rewrites. Like maybe demands from the network to restore the status quo.

Something definitely went wrong, because this whole arc sorta fell flat at the end. They didn't wrap up the characters they introduced (or even address them), dropped a lot of the things they had set up, and went off somewhat randomly at the end. Quick rewrites/reshoots? Pressure from the Studio? Something didn't work here...

She tweeted a link to an interview she did with Pop Sugar that was posted on the 9th where she said she was invited back, so it looks like this probably won't be the last we've seen of Merida.Same here. I haven't liked this season (or the last one one) much- the plots seem directionless. The Frozen arc went on far too long without doing anything and 'Dark' Hook had potential but never got off the ground. There were a few good moments of course, but I think a show is losing me when I miss a couple of episodes and don't care. I caught up last night on Hulu and wondered why I made an effort.
Well, Zelena is a main character now, so it makes sense we'd see Oz more often now.They're going back to the Oz well again? Hmm, I wonder if there's a movie coming out...
