OK, actually Aurora Australis but most of you know the northern flavour. :)

Shot back in September on my Canon 70D. Posting because I want to share but also I have entered this into a competition. I have 24 hours to get as many views as possible, so please click on the link and share on social media if you like. Thank you in advance.

No idea why I didn't come here earlier. :)

Very cool. I witnessed the aurora borealis multiple times when I was living up in Alaska, but I've yet to have a chance to see the aurora australis in person. Hopefully I will some day. :techman:

I would love to see the borealis. Alaska/Canada/Iceland etc are much further north than New Zealand is south.

Great video! It's been an embarrassingly long time since I've even made it out of the city to try and see the lights up here.

I too witnessed the Aurora in Alaska, when I was stationed their with the Air Force. They are so beautiful.

For some reason, I'm having trouble viewing the video and I don't normally have trouble viewing Youtube videos, so not sure what's going on. I see the intro at the beginning just fine, but when the image changes to show the aurora, I hear the music just fine, but the image just sits there. I can click ahead in the timeline and see a bit of the animation, but then it stops again.

From what I've seen though, it's beautiful. Almost looks like a watercolour painting at times.

It's truly wondrous. I guess because, in part, of the waterside location, it reminds me a bit of the final scene of The Quiet Earth, though not nearly as fantastical. This would seem to be a setting where one would really want to sit still and have the chance to do some serious and quiet contemplation!!! :techman:

Amazing, 46 degrees south, that's nearer the equator than Seatle, most of Canada, and most of Northern and central europe including as far south as Vienna.

I'm the same, ironically. I can't seem to play it down properly but everyone else I've spoken to says it's fine.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, how did you encode it? Maybe has something to do with it? Maybe it just requires re-encoding. I put together videos frequently enough, and I've noticed that if the computer is bogged down too much, it can cause hiccups while encoding. Happened to me last time I put something together. Processed it and even uploaded, only to find out that it was the file itself had a hiccup in it that prevented playback correctly.
