Once Upon A Time Season 5 Discussion Thread -Spoilers

Actually, I can see them writing her pregnancy into the show. Lots of angst for Rumpy to be a daddy again, now that he's not the Dark One anymore.

I was a little surprised myself at the second episode being rather unconnected to the first one, but I suppose with all the characters they have they need to do that to explain where some characters went and wrap up storylines that weren't connected to the main arc (or in this case, find ways of getting them connected).

I finally sat down and watched an EP of the show. "The Bear King" I mainly did because I am a fan of the movie Brave. :) I liked that aspect of it but was lost with the non-Brave stuff.

The show has a pretty complex continuity at this point with a huge cast of characters and a vast interlocking backstory.

So Merlin is dead, killed by Hook while trying to cast a curse. :( But I figure if the other Dark Ones can come back to life, there's a good chance Merlin can too, or does it work differently for him?

Again, I don't see Emma as a truly evil character. She's misguided and often brash, doing things impulsively on her own without consulting others. It turns out even Hook is more devious and dangerous than she is.

Yeah, Dark Hook is definitely a lot worse than Dark Swan. I think, and it was kind of implied in the episode, that Hook was already a darker character than Emma, so once he went full Dark One that darkness was emphasized.
I really enjoyed the episode. I'm a big fan of the Emma/Hook relationship, so I was thrilled it was such a big part of the episode.
I feel sorry for poor Rumple, he finally becomes a true pure hearted good guy, and Belle still leaves him. But I can understand her point of view.
I'm thinking all of the Dark Ones coming to Storybrooke is going to be very, very bad. I wonder if their being released from the Underworld is what is going to get Hades involved in the second half of the season?
I'm a little confused by where Merida was supposed to be when the spell hit her. Did the spell reach DunBroch, or was she supposed to be back in Camelot for some reason?
I thought this one did a good job of answering the rest of the question that have come up through the season. I wonder what, if any, flashback we'll get next week since this one brought us back to where this season's Storybrooke arc started.

When the boat was released from the Underworld, I was expecting Hades to be on it instead of who actually was.

I don't know for sure, but I think Merida was on her way to Camelot, possibly after Arthur.

Anyway, I enjoyed the episode but now we've only got one more before the break:(

Yeah, I had the same thought about Hades. It being all of the Dark Ones was definitely a bigger twist than it being Hades, and had a much bigger impact on the viewer.

I also watched "The Bear and The Bow" and enjoyed the Merida/Brave stuff. I will probably catch up on the entire series at some point.

I enjoy the plotline but I don't understand why Hook did not feel he is a Dark One all this time. Granted, he had his memories taken, but it is confusing.

With his memory of being a Dark One taken any darkness he felt he'd attribute to his own self and not the darkness a Dark One would have. That's my theory.

That works for me. It also seems to me to go fully Dark One you have to really embrace it, and since he didn't remember he couldn't embrace it.

I've been watching Spin City on LaffTV for the last few months, and they just started season 5, which had Lana Parilla on as a regular. I had no idea she was on the show, although it was apparently just for the one season.

I did not know that either. I figured she was probably old enough to have been in a lot of other stuff, but I didn't realize she'd actually been in stuff I've seen.

That's no surprise. The writers lost interest in her character very quick, so she didn't have much to do. It almost seemed like they just had her on as a token, so that Locklear wouldn't be the only woman left on the regular cast, and after one season they noticed nobody cared.

The Charlie Sheen seasons weren't as good, anyway. Admittedly, MJF was a tough act to follow.

Yeah, it said on Wikipedia that she left because she didn't think the character was being used enough. Luckily, she doesn't have that problem OUAT.

During that scene I got the distinct feeling from Belle that she was being used by someone else (Hook? Zelena?) to freak him out. :vulcan:

That old "pull my heart out and turn me into a voice box for your evil plans" shtick. :rommie:

She was also on 24.

For me, I think the first thing I saw her in was as a guest in JAG. 24 is where I remember her from first though.

I was kind of wondering that too.

Love how on 24 she get's tortured for being under suspicion of being a mole, they send her back to work, she tries to strong arm a promotion and raise because of it and ends up being fired!!
