The European Football Season 15/16

Seems a bit soft to cancel those friendlies if you ask me. France was attacked and England is an obvious target yet the game is going ahead tonight.

In other news, the English are being encouraged to sing the French national anthem.

Hmm, not sure about that. And besides, most people will probably get it wrong and start singing "All you need is love."

Actually "All you need is love" might be more suitable.

Exactly, clearly the plan was to get inside the stadium before detonating :(

The plan was for the 1st terrorist to get inside the stadium and the 2nd was supposed to detonate in the panicked crowd who was escaping the stadium.

The stadiums will be totally secured during the Euro, like they are always. What will be more difficult to keep safe will be the surrounding.

On another note, we expect a very moving moment at Wembley tonight.

Yes that's the trouble, you can secure the stadium but once people leave (or on their way in) they're more vulnerable.

Watford 1 - 2 Man United
Chelsea 1 - 0 Norwich
Everton 4 - 0 Aston Villa
Newcastle 0 - 3 Leicester
Southampton 0 - 1 Stoke
Swansea 2 - 2 Bournemouth
West Brom 2 - 1 Arsenal
Man City 1 - 4 Liverpool

Good day for United with City and Arsenal losing. Leicester and Vardy's run continues (Leicester go top). Klopp's Liverpool batter City away from home.

Meanwhile Real Madrid lose by 4 at home to Barca.

Champions League Tues 24th

Arsenal 3 - 0 Dynamo Zagreb
Bayern Munich 4 - 0 Olympiakos
Barcelona 6 - 1 Roma
BATE 1 - 1 B. Leverkusen
M. Tel Aviv 0 - 4 Chelsea
FC Porto 0 - 2 Dynamo Kiev
Zenit 2 - 0 Valencia
Lyon 1 - 2 KAA Gent

Arsenal keep themselves in with a chance. Need to beat Olympiakos in the last game. Two wins on the bounce for Chelsea. Lyon did not have a good campaign.

I'm watching M'Gladbach vs Sevilla, at least the rest of the match.

Currently 4:1 for Gladbach

4:2 in the end.

Champions League Weds 25th

CSKA Moscow 0 - 2 Wolfsburg
Man United 0 - 0 PSV Eindhoven
Shaktar 3 - 4 Real Madrid
Malmo 0 - 5 PSG
Juventus 1 - 0 Man City
B monchengladbach 4 - 2 Sevilla
Astana 2 - 2 Benfica
Athletic Madrid 2 - 0 Galatasary

United making life hard for themselves. Will possibly need to win at Wolfsbutg now. Ronaldo scores two and increases his lead over Messi.

Squeaky bum time.

Results

Crystal Palace 5 - 1 Newcastle
Bournemouth 3 - 3 Everton
Aston Villa 2 - 3 Watford
Man City 3 - 1 Southampton
Sunderland 2 - 0 Stoke

Steve McLaren must surely be getting close to the sack now. There's been no sign of improvement. Meanwhile the Mackems get another win under big Sam.

Currently Playing

Leicester 1 - 1 Man United

Game not over yet but congratulations to Jamie Vardy who has just scored and therefore broken the consecutive goals record. Scoring in 11 games in a row (breaking Van Nistelrooy's record of 10 in a row). Schweinsteiger has just equalised (his first United goal).

The stadiums are full, the ticket prices relatively low, the quality is there... but truly the Bundesliga has become so fucking dull at the top that I can't be bothered to follow it anymore. It's a shame, it used to be such a fun league.

Incredible achievement for Vardy, real life Roy of the Rovers stuff.

It's worth noting that this is the Premier League record and not the English top-flight record which is held by Jimmy Dunne when he scored 12 in a row in the 31/32 season.

Since Vardy is only one away from equally that record, I suspect Jimmy Dunne will be getting his name mentioned again in a few papers this weekend.

Died in 1949 but will be getting some recognition in 2015. I like it when shit like that happens.

Stoke 2 - 0 Man City
Arsenal 3 - 1 Sunderland
Man United 0 - 0 West Ham
Southampton 1 - 1 Aston Villa
Swansea 0 - 3 Leicester
Watford 2 - 0 Norwich
West Brom 1 - 1 Tottenham

Leicester just keep on winning!? No goal for Vardy though. United can't buy a goal at the moment. Need to spend in the coming window but it can't be another young player with potential; it needs to be the finished article. Could be worse though, could be Chelsea. They lose... again!

Bizarre.

I'm watching Robert Lewandowski in an end-of-the-year review tv show, talking about his 5 goal record against Wolfsburg.

Champions League

Wolfsburg 3 - 2 Man United
PSV Eindhoven 2 - 1 CSKA Moscow
Real Madrid 8 - 0 Malmo FF
Paris SG 2 - 0 Shaktar Donetsk
Benfica 1 - 2 Athletico Madrid
Galatasary 1 - 1 Astana
Man City 4 - 2 B Munchengladbach
Sevilla 1 - 0 Juventus

United out. It was on the cards. Van Ghaal will finally be put under some pressure now and instead of being compared to Moyes, he'll be compared to Fergie. Needs to improve.

Ronaldo scores another billion goals. City top their group.

B Leverkusen 1 - 1 Barcelona
Roma 0 - 0 BATE

D Zagreb 0 - 2 Bayern Munich
Chelsea 2 - 0 FC Port
D Kiev 1 - 0 Maccaibi Tel Aviv

Arsenal did what they had to do. Not the best start for Gary Neville though. Knock-out stage here we come.

Champions League Draw

Gent V Wolfsburg
Roma V Real Madrid
Arsenal V Barcelona
PSG V Chelsea
Juventus V Bayern
PSV V Athletico Madrid
Benfica V Zenit
D Kiev V Man City

Interesting draw. A lot of the big boys go up against each other while smaller clubs get very favourable draws. Of the big spenders, I think City will be the most pleased with that. Bye bye Arsenal.
