As the Christopher's comment, I have said for years that Marvel and DC should take their books that are more "suitable" for a broader audience and make a second printing on lesser quality paper with cheaper colors and sell them in the corner stores and supermarkets at a competitive price. They are almost certain to make a profit and even if they don't they are investing in the future of their business.,

I agree.

Here in Australia, with the fluctuating dollar and shipping cost, comics cost from $6.95 and up.

There's NO WAY I'm dropping $7.00 plus on a book of funnies that'll be read in ten minutes and then sit on a shelf.

Perhaps in the short term but this seems to be the same short sighted thinking that killed the music industry. Comic book publishers need to win over new generations of fans or they will not survive past the next few decades.

That makes no sense, Music moved to a model where the marginal cost of production is zero or near zero. The music industry isn't dead either. There is no market for cheap magazines particularly because the retail channel doesn't want them either - especially in the numbers that comics sell.

As mentioned above, digital comics do seem to be revitalizing the industry. The end is probably in sight for monthly, magazine-format print comics, and perhaps it should be, since that particular way of presenting comics is no longer feasible. But they'll simply be replaced by digital comics and book-format print collections or graphic novels.

I just looked over the august solicitations.

Still no sign of a new one #1 since the FF was cancelled.

I doubt it's coming back till after Secret Wars finishes.

They just listed new 45 titles starting after Secret Wars and fantastic Four isn't one of them.

Allegedly a wave 2 of title announcement is coming in September.
They were delayed in announcing because supposedly the solicits could be seen as spoilers to how Secret Wars ends. Could be up to another 15 titles.

You don't understand. It wasn't just the Big 2 leaving the newstand or grocery aisle market. It was also them getting kicked out because they weren't as profitable.

I would love to see Reed do the 60s period piece FF movie that he pitched to FOX for the MCU. It's an unexplored era of the MCU, and it would allow for Stark to still be the super-genius of the Avengers era. Toss in Hayley Atwell, and we're golden.

Mixed feelings. I'm glad this particular strain is dead but I don't want everybody to be gun shy about making FF movies. Statistically, somebody has to get it right at some point.
