Spoilers Arrow - Season 4

Don't trouble yourself, it's naff.

The first season of OUAT is stellar, but they struggle not to get shitter each year since with much effort.

I feel the opposite. I actually gave up on the show in the first season and came back in the second. I don't think it got truly good until S3.

Believability starts to get dicey when the baddies have to swap flags to keep the actors on set.

"Yeah, your character's story is obviously over, but it's a good guess that ratings will plummet even if we replaced you with someone half your age and four times more attractive, so you're not fired".

Also, there seems to be a bit of a continuity issue. Diggle kept saying Andy had been dead for eight years. However, in season 3, Andy and Diggle were working security at Tommy's party, only five years ago.

One way this math works...

Since Tommy's been dead 2 1/2 (+?) years at minimum...

"5 years ago {Andy} died" + 2 1/2 (+?) years {since Tommy died} = 8. :vulcan:

I suspect that Tommy's party happened just before / soon after Ollie & Sara were "lost" at sea which was approx. 8 years ago in "show" time.

^That would require the first two seasons' worth of island flashbacks to be compressed into a few weeks, which doesn't track.

The fight scenes this entire season have been really impressive, and this episode was a standout. Maybe it's my bad memory, but they seem to have really stepped up their game there.

huh. I've been biting my tongue not to comment on this but since you brought it up, the fighting scenes in The Arrow have been the worst of all current shows for appearing too choreographed, imo. This past week did mark a slight improvement, though.

Thank you, I also was tempted to post this. Plus I think they are way too long, I know, I'm watching a show that's mostly about a masked guy beating up other masked guys but there is a point where I stop caring anymore and start checking my emails...

Lol

During the last episode I caught myself wondering if a lamp would look better on the other table. Full Disclosure: I only keep watching this one because of its crossovers with The Flash. I am afraid I'll miss something pertinent to that series otherwise I'd bail on Arrow.

ETA: Upon further reflection, the Malcolm story-line keeps me hanging on as well.

The most recent episode was the highest rated of the season with 2.69 million viewers. The Flash averages over 3.5 million.

Nice to see Merlin back but I wish they had dealt with the now defunct Lazarus pit and his status as Ra's al Ghul.

Some questions from a casual viewer...

I just rewatched the pilot and Diggle was a bodyguard assigned to Oliver by his mom when he came back. How did he find out about Oliver's secret identity and how/when/why did he start acting as his sidekick?

Have the flashbacks explained precisely when/why Oliver decided to return to the city? Because first we saw him on the island, then he escaped, then he worked for Waller, now he's back on the island again....

The last question hasn't been explained yet. As for when Diggle found out about Ollie, watch the first season. I think it's less than six years in and it would be way easier and more satisfying to watch.

But they later retcon that since Oliver worked for Amanda, he'd read Diggle's jacket, and "probably" engineered Diggle's employment and placement in Oliver's Security Detail. You also gotta wonder if he had Felicity all picked out too after Oliver heard her talking about how hot he was when he was sneaking around Queen Consolidated for Amanda.

I've seen every episode of the series, I just wasn't paying close attention and don't remember the early seasons well. I didn't like the show until season 3.

If I remember correctly Diggle got poisoned by vertigo and Ollie took him to the Arrow cave to save him.
Diggle freaked out when he woke up, eventually agreed to work with Ollie to keep him in check.

This guy had the best facelift.

From 70's Calculator armour, to turn of the century Evil Oracle charging a thousand dollars per question on a super villain 0900 hotline.

(Evil Felicity for TV context.)

I seem to recall the Calculator first appearing in the backups in Detective Comics. Fighting the Atom and maybe Green Arrow before tackling Batman.
