Jessica Jones-- Marvel/Netflix

I didn't see why I'd need a tablet if I already had a laptop and a smartphone.)
I've got all three.

I use my tablet for surfing the net, reading comics, emails, shopping etc. I use my smartphone for these (but less), plus calls and texts.

My laptop's around the house somewhere. Probably. I've not used it for months...

I watched the first 2 episodes this morning before leaving for work. I thought they were better than the first 2 episodes of DD.

Tennant as a Kilgrave is sinister/scary as he was in the trailers. He is like the character in the X-Files episode, "Pusher", but the Files episode didn't go into as much detail about what Pusher does to people. Plus, Kilgrave is going after women for his own personal enjoyment. That seems so much creepier than "just" making people kill. Also, Kilgrave seems much more powerful than Pusher was.

Kristen is very solid in the title role. Her level of "over it" and overall weariness comes through her character beautifully. I love that she is just plain scared.

Going to have to fight to keep from blowing through all 13 over the week-end. I didn't intend to watch episode 2 until tonight but couldn't help myself.

Shit is serious.

Loving it. I love the adult tone and the Daredevil-esque touches. I hat Easter eggs did you get?

On episode 4, really liking it. I only got to episode 3 of Dare Devil, may pick that back up at some point but the episodes I watched were kind of boring. I'll probably watch all of Jessica Jones this weekend if the rest of the episodes are as good as the first 4.

Daredevil was a slow burn to start, but it really picked up once Fisk showed up in person. It's absolutely worth another go.

Anyone get to episode 5 yet? Because...
The Captain America cameo at around the 28 min mark was very cute. ;)

*sigh*... For me, it probably doesn't start until my new laptop arrives sometime in the next two weeks and I get it up and running. I just don't trust my current laptop's ability to play streaming videos without freezing.
Do you have any smart devices, or video game systems? Almost all of them have a Netflix app. We've got it on about 5 or 6 devices in our house.

I have a rather compact smartphone. I'd prefer waiting to watch until I can see it on a decent-sized screen. (Many's the time lately that I've regretted not taking that deal to add a tablet to my smartphone plan for an extra 50 bucks. At the time, I didn't see why I'd need a tablet if I already had a laptop and a smartphone.)

You should get a couple of Roku boxes or Apple TV (Fire Amazon I don't own). We cut our cable connection a few years ago now and stream all of our television. Netflix still looks really good on my 50 inch screen 1080 pi television.

Basically my kids who are now 8 don't even remember how to watch traditional cable television and get confused or excited when we are at a hotel or someplace where the programs have actual ads. They watch Netflix also on their tiny ASUS tablets that we bought them for 100 dollars each.

SPOILERS!!:scream:

I just saw the first episode. A great way to spend a Friday night.

- Love the credit montage. Very artsy.

- From the get-go, it had a film noir vibe like an old detective show.

- Loving Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. I've followed her career and it's nice to see her in this. Can't say whether or not she captures the comic book character but I like what I've seen so far and I want to see more. Funny how I'm not even curious about her powers. The drama's that compelling.

- It would be nice to be Luke Cage for a night.

- This Purple Man... He really gets into people's heads with his purpleness. Never seen a villain quite like him or a build-up and delivery quite like this. Very sinister all around. They've already hinted at some dark themes and I'm both excited and apprehensive about where things might go.

- I think I'm a little more engaged in this than I was with Daredevil's first episode.

- Almost didn't recognize Eka Darville. The cast of Power Rangers RPM are doing pretty well career wise.

After finishing the first episode...it was ok. Not anywhere near as good as Daredevil, but the purple man stuff was creepy.

I wish we'd actually seen him, but at least he still did stuff in the episode. Even without appearing on screen, he was still a better character than "Trish", the lawyer woman or that random guy (Malcolm?) Ritter isn't as bad as I thought, but she's not very good. I'd say she's adequate, nothing special but is decent enough to read the material and not be super obnoxious. Luke Cage was very bland and middle of the road, too, but its early in the show so he could get better.

The episode felt pretty padded and slow, though. They could easily have cut out the hallucination scenes, and just because Brian Michael Bendis is a weirdo doesn't mean they have to reproduce the sex scenes from the Alias comics :wtf: The beginning also could have used a trim, it took awhile to get going. I think with about 10 minutes cut this would have been a much tighter episode, but as it is it was an ok first episode. Its pretty obvious that the villain is going to be the big reason to watch the show, though.

Overall, its much weaker than Daredevil's opening, but the villain is spooky and I think he'll be more than worth watching the show for. Jessica Jones the character deserves a better actress and writing, but the purple man plot alone will probably make the time spent watching the show worth it.

^ Those hallucinations are what make Kilgrave so sinister and scary. Take those out and you haven't got much. And look forward to more of the casual. It's part of her character, her lifestyle and the overall seediness of New York's underbelly.

Got done episode 2. Now we see what the season will be about.

I was wondering if that girl had a chance at being proven innocent, given that they live in a world with weird stuff, and sure enough, they addressed that as the very point of the season.

Oh, and Kilgrave reminds me of the Shadow with some Nolan Bane mixed in. Maybe it's the accent.

Two questions...

1. Was Hogarth using a Samsung Galaxy Mega in episode 1? That was an awfully big smartphone.

2. Did anyone look out for Stark Tower?

You have a scary psychopath who does horrible things to people, played by easily the best actor on the show. The few short, stupid hallucinations did absolutely nothing to make him spooky. It was what we learned about him, and what he did, that made an impression

I'm aware of that. Heck, the comic probably showed more, unfortunately :ack: I'm just glad Disney/Marvel won't let them go full HBO, because I'm sure they would have if they could have.

As I said before, I felt Jessica Jones had a much stronger opening than Daredevil. The first 3 episodes of Daredevil were so boring that I tuned out and have yetto pick it back up. On Episode 11 of Jessica Jones now, and it is great. Can't wait to see how it ends.

It took me from April to a few weeks ago to make it all the way through Daredevil. I just found it a tad boring for my taste, and this is from a guy who loves every Marvel movie, including Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron. Jessica Jones? I'm already on episode 7. I love this show.

Up to episode 6.

Does anyone else think that Simpson looks a bit like Captain America in his civilian clothes?
might this be deliberate somehow?

And yeah I kept looking for the Stark/Avengers Tower in the background but couldn't spot it.
Though I am pretty sure it should have been there in some scenes that showed the skyline of New York very clearly.

I also am looking for cameos of established characters from at least Daredevil if not the Movies.
Night Nurse could have been potentially in some scenes, but wasn't and I can't shake the feeling that Murdock & Nelson could easily have been worked into the plot if they wanted to.

At first this annoyed me too, but I just watched the episode. Don't worry, it's not what you think.

Really enjoyed it. And I really enjoyed the presence of interesting female characters. Also good acting from Ritter, as expected. Best comic series I've seen so far.

Finished.

It took me three episodes to notice that Trish is Patsy who is Hellcat, which taps her 2 ex-husbands Mad Dog and Damien Hellstrom the Son of Satan.

I should have read the side of that bus in the first episode faster. :(

"Gimmie a Red" :D

Luke didn't say "Sweet Christmas" enough.
