Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

I like the sillier alternate take of the "Chewie, we're home" scene. I doubt that's the one J.J. is using in the final edit of the film, but if he did decide to use that take I have to say it made me smile and I like it. :)

Same. He is Han Solo through and through in that second-long clip in a way I don't think I've seen yet from him in any of the other promos.

I love the shot in the Japanese trailer (at least I think it's that trailer) where we can see Han out in the open and firing his blaster. Harrison still has that great Han pose and swagger when he blasts an enemy, and it's great to see again after all these decades.

That's in the Disney XD clip from last night, too.

I think he's very "Han Solo" when he gives Rey the blaster, too.

I hope this isn't the last time we see Han Solo. I have concerns it will be, but just in case our worst fears about the character aren't overblown it's awesome to see Harrison and his character back in the Star Wars universe and in fine, classic form.

If this is his swan song, it just may be the best Han Solo we've ever seen.

Some info on Kylo Ren's Lightsaber.

When you think about it, Kylo's lightsaber does look like one that might have been used by an ancient Jedi Knight or Sith during the KOTOR era. More raw and unrefined and with a rougher shape to it.

I really hope that Kylo himself gets a rich backstory (and in the movie too, screw tie-in material).

Who is he, what made him fall to the dark side, why is he such a Vader fanboy, who are the Knights of Ren and what is his role in their order...

Why does he wear the mask, and why is he such a big guy?

I hope J.J. is a lot more revealing about backstory in the actual film itself than he's been about even the most minor story details in the trailers.

How much is needed, though? Think about the OT - a line or two here or there - what do we know about Han other than he's cocky and boastful and owes money? What more need we know?

Sometimes it's not about need. It's about want. ;) Nobody really needs to know this material, but it's often fun and interesting to do so.

Han, eh, I don't mind knowing little about his history and didn't much care for a long time. For some reason I'd like to know Kylo Ren's background and how he emerged from the ashes of the old Galactic Empire and why he worships the Sith the way he does. So much has happened since the Battle of Endor and the more context and history that gets filled in and explained the better.

And no, I don't mean in the "meh" novels that are currently being released.
