A lot of people are complaining about the new Star Trek series being part of an online subscription service that few people currently use. So, I'm wondering how many people plan to subscribe to CBS All Access to watch the new series.

I think the moderators are going to request you remove the pirate method as illegal activity- theft of intellectual property is frowned upon in discussions here.

I plan to watch through a neural implant -- download the show directly to my visual cortex. Because after all, it'll be 2017, which is the future.

I'll either sub during the season its on or for a month to binge watch.

Might want to add an option for those in the international market who are gonna recieve the series on their local networks.

Yeah, international market viewer here.

If its free to watch on some tv-channel then will of course watch from there. Fox has been good at airing episodes pretty close to the USA-premieres.

Other options for me are Netflix or more likely HBO Nordic. HBO Nordic has an agreement with Showtime to stream their series 1 day after USA premieres, so maybe it would stretch also to the CBS. They also stream some other tv-series, for example Vikings.

How will I watch ?

With disdain and a feeling of superiority because I'm a 'Niner' of course !

Seriously ? I hope one of the UK stations shows it. I'd probably not buy another subscription (I've already let Netflix lapse) but there's loads of stations on my cable package - one of them should get it.

I'll buy it on Bluray eventually, but it'll probably be off the air by the time I find it cheap enough...

Interestingly enough, it was actually two of your recent post that prompted this question. The one linking to the Forbes article speculating on how many and for how long fans would subscribe, and the post linking to the article viscerally ranting about how the new show will fail because no one will pay for it.

(My favorite part of his rant is when he unilaterally declares, "Star Trek fans are the geeks of the world. The majority of this fan base will not only do all they can to avoid the subscriptions fees, they have the technical savvy to get it done. Within hours of broadcast episodes will be available for free". As if that doesn't already happen for every television show and film.)

They'll get a good surge of interest from people who'll pay up initially. Whether the show will experience a certain longevity is a different debate.

I wouldn't necessarily pay CBS or pay Netflix just for one show myself. I'm pretty certain it'll eventually be accessible to me sooner or later.

I'll watch the first one because it's free, then pay after that if it hooks me. It's been my way with a lot of things that became a part of my life.

I would probably subscribe for the season, but I doubt I'll be able to from outside the US.
If a German tv network picks it up, that won't do me much good, either, because I don't have a tv and I don't like dubs, so I'm going to hope it'll show up on German Netflix or Amazon Prime. I might even be willing to buy it on iTunes if that's the only high-quality, non-dubbed option.

I'll subscribe. If the TV shows offered are sufficient in between Star Trek seasons, I'll stay subscribed.

Right now, you can watch ever Star Trek series on Netflix. I wonder when their contract with CBS ends and if CBS will license the shows to Netflix again, or if they will make them only available on CBS All Access.

Interesting. There was an initial 2 year deal in 2011 that was extended in 2013, but no word on how long the extension was for. 2017 would be interesting timing if the CBS/Netflix deal expires at the end of 2016.

Missing option: I'm hoping for the ability to watch it through one of the subscription services I'm already paying for to materialize before 2017, so, undecided.

If anyone was planning to pirate the show, do we think they would announce it on a poll? (I don't know if the poll is public or private, but it doesn't matter, because admins have ways... ;) )

Same here.

And also, I plan to watch on a TV, not on a tablet, phone, laptop, or other portable device.

I have a laptop with a bad screen that I leave hooked up to the TV with VNC remote control software. So I'll be watching on the TV no matter what. :D

I voted buying it thru the season, I'm terrible at binge-watching due to my lack of free time.
