Just change the "No, I'll pirate the show" option to "Other" and you might get more accurate poll results.

Yeah, poll needs "other" option. I will watch the series, whether its on some local streaming service or tv-channel. Or by other means.

If the new series is on Amazon Prime in its original english language, I'll watch it there ... if not, I'll have to use "other" sources. And I will buy the BluRays, of course.

We have recently cut the chord. Between ad-free Hulu and now the CBS app, there is no broadcast television we don't have instant access to. All 3 of our TVs have Chromecasts attached, and all of the streaming apps have Chromecast support. So when Star Trek arrives, I will just cast it to whatever TV we are at and be good.

And people say that Star Trek's prediction of there being no television after 2040 is nonsensical.

We are seeing the demise of television right before our eyes.

Pun intended?

Barring whether or not we can even afford it (living check to check will do that for you) I'm only going to want to watch it on my TV. No interest in watching it on my crummy PC or my tiny phone.

All Access isn't available on any other device I own. Since I already have four separate smart devices in the home it is highly unlikely that we would want to shell out (at the cheapest) another $30 just to get one device to get one app to watch one show.

I would really like to do that but we have one person living in our house who will NOT give up cable. He's half owner of the house (he's my brother. We both inherited it....long boring story). Anyway I want to do this.

I'll probably watch via Chromecast.

I'll subscribe to CBS All-Access (via PS4 if available; I'll purchase a Roku otherwise) as it's running. I hope it's a weekly event, rather than a full season drop. Discussing and debating weekly episodes with friends and on the web has been a passion of mine for over 15 years and I want that to continue.

SI think I will subscribe for the first season for CBSAA which is in the CBS app on my AppleTV.
I wonder how CBS is going to do season 1 with iTunes- if they wait until season 1 is over or each week have an episode? Since they want as many subscriptions as they can to this new service and want to see the metrics of how many times these episodes get watched (and re-watched) by subscribers if they will keep it very limited in US-only?
I wonder how iTunes episode purchases will work around the world in foreign markets? The real question is which countries have English and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound on iTunes since CBSAA currently does not have surround sound (but that may change by 2017)?
I wonder how much they will change things for distribution in USA for season 2?
I wonder if once they have their audience for the show if they know they will watch season 2 if it gets opened up past CBSAA for purchase like iTunes, Amazon Video, and Microsoft Movies & TV. Again purchase not rental. I'm sure CBS will have a hefty premium $50./season or $5./episode for the Trek TV series to buy on the above 3 which will also steer people to Streaming it on CBSAA. Maybe you won't be able to just buy an episode and have to purchase the whole season?
CBS knows people will also wait to buy the Blu-ray set in 6-8 months and will make special features for that to sweeten the pot for a physical media purchase that has the best datarate for video and audio quality.

If it airs immediately on a channel available in India, I'll do that route. If not, I would have to consider CBS All Access, assuming it is available here.

I can't imagine CBS would do a Netflix type season dump. Netflix can afford to drop a whole season at once because most of it's users are subscribing perpetually. Because it has considerably less programming than Netflix, CBS All Access needs an incentive for users to subscribe for more than one month.

As for the availability of episodes on iTunes, CBS's press release leads me to believe they won't be available to download very quickly.

A totally new Star Trek television series is coming in January 2017! The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast of the premiere episode on the CBS Television Network, and the premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access.

If you can download episodes the next day, then they aren't really exclusive to CBS All Access. Of course, I could be reading that statement too literally.
