Trek Returning to TV in 2017!

Well, we've got to remember that the TNG fans also rejected their last 2 movies and the last TV series .

It's not just blind loyalty to the series, it's simply how good it is. And Enterprise is probably the closest to the Abrams style universe than the others were.

It's not that's it NU trek that bugs some fans, I think. It's the style of it.

The hyperactivity-- the non stop action and the gimmicks, all design to appeal to the summer movie crowd.

And if that's probably what's worrying some fans. Are they going to be stuck with that version of Trek if turns out that way.


By the way--if it's going to be on paid streaming TV, I wonder if they're going to take off the handcuffs, and be more edgy and risky this time.

"All the series have done well in terms of streaming. Added in to that, "Star Trek" is a huge international franchise. Our international distribution guy is going crazy; he can't wait to get out to the marketplace and sell that.

And come on, this is Star Trek. Most of us will watch it whether we like it or not.

There is no way I'm going to miss this unless I'm dead. I mean, it would have to be really, really boring for me to stop watching it once I start. Star Trek is just one of those kinds of properties for me. I'm deeply invested in it.

I rest my case.

I think that maybe explains how some people can hate-watch shows.

Moonves was the guy who put the last nail in the coffin of Enterprise more than 10 years ago. Given how uninterested he was in Trek's television franchise back then I hope he's had a major change of heart since, and not just because he saw the numbers and realized how profitable a new series might be.

"Enterprise" was slow as molasses. It was like watching quadrotriticale grow.

What if it will be bad but not bad enough to watch or write about it? That happened to me with JJTrek. After finally watching the movie I totally lost interest in the matter. Enterprise was bad but at least always a nice topic.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't think we're comparing apples to apples with the JJ films and this new show. The TNG films were for the most part not very good, and definitely lacked character development. First Contact aside they're not that great, and hardly represent the series. I'm not sure you'd look at those and say that the show would be great if you'd never seen it

Then it will be the same as 98% of the other shows currently on television.

Let's hope for "really, really good" or "really, really bad".

I found ways to love Star Trek V. I mean, if THAT'S possible....

There are lots of good things about Star Trek V. Lots of bad things, too, but there are good things .

TFF is one of those Trek stories where it either hits all the right emotional buttons and reminds you why you love the characters or is so bad that it makes you wish you could punch the film in the balls.

There's a guarantee that a good chunk of us won't like it. Fans of the new films probably don't like DS9 and vice versa, but they're both valid "Star Trek". Much the same conversation when TNG came out and DIDN'T have Kirk in it. I still know people who only like the original. I'm surprised there's so much hate here when the Star Trek we have is already so diverse

That's an odd statement to make. Why those two iterations of Star Trek? Me, I like both.

I was one of those geeky Trek fans who wrote a detailed email asking why they were cancelling the show right when it had finally gotten decent enough to watch!

Of course, I just got a generic form letter in response.
