The last episode has been by far the best episode yet, but the writing or the characters still isn't as good as season one heroes and I fear that this episode is going to be this season's peak.

1. The reintroduction of Mohinder was excellent. It's a shame how much better the old characters are than the new characters and this episode really hits home that fact.

2. This episode also shows how much better this show is with Hiro and his time travel element. Although Hiro is much more subdued, he brings the time travel/teleport/paradox element to the story that makes it as interesting as S1 heroes. I loved the part where he teleported several times and apparently saw several different outcomes of the future that is worse than stopping the bomb.

3. Again, with the time travel element, the rediscovery of the day of Odessa was excellent. I like the slowly sheding light of the day HRG lost of memories and how it ties in to the entire S1.

4. I suppose they have no choice since the Clarie's actor isn't coming back, but the way they handled Clarie's death was dumb. As a writer with my hands tied since I don't have the actor to work with, I don't know what I would of done, but c'mon who the hell would not lift the sheet and see their daughters face one last time? Also HRG never checked of it was really clarie and that he really could not save her? The whole scene just seemed cheesy. They really wouldn't pay the actor enough to do a legitimate 5 minute scene with Clarie's real body? I really did not like this scene at all. Seemed very low budget.

5. With that said.... the twist of Tommy and Emily being Claire's children was a great twist from the writers. That came out of left field and is a very good reason why HRG wanted his memory wiped. I bought it. Good writing.

6. I'm going to be very pissed of it's not revealed who the biological father is by the end of the season.

7. The overall feeling I got from this episode is that things seem very good when this show returns to it's roots. This episode seemed very "S1 Heroes"

It was great to see Mohinder again, and I hope he's not dead. Hiro could have pulled him out of there and brought him to the future (or the past, for that matter).

I also hope that Hiro will stick around for the duration, but I suspect he won't. And I wonder if there is any future for Katana Girl and her sidekick.

The scenes with Claire's corpse were indeed awkward. I guess we know at this point that they couldn't sign up Hayden Planetarium for a cameo, but they could have shown Noah lifting the sheet from an obscure angle or something. They also could have given an explanation for her loss of powers, rather than just letting us assume it was symptomatic of her pregnancy. I'm actually surprised that they didn't keep her alive somehow, in hopes of someday getting the actress back.

It was a nice revelation that Nathan and Malina are Claire's kids, but I don't buy it as sufficient motivation for Noah to have his memories erased (or for the Haitian to try to kill him, or for Molly to commit suicide). They do seem to have inherited their mother's propensity for being vital to the well being of the planet, though. Save the cheerleader's kids, save the world. :rommie:

Yeah. I can understand HRG having his memory wiped to protect the kids, but not how the kids explain the Haitian's attempt to kill him or Molly being afraid of him. Also, it would be kind of sad if that was the only reason, considering that Erica and Renautus already found out about the timeshift anyway (or else there would be no reason for all those scenes of them trying to capture the girl), in just a matter of months.

And really, since Hiro showed up right in front of Harris when he was supposed to be trapped in Evernow, Renautus would be dumb not to expect the kids to be hidden in either the past or future or some remote location from the moment they realize they're missing. Which brings up something I hadn't thought of before: why would Hiro hide the kids in the past (which he has actual objections to, even if he let himself be convinced way too easily) when he can just as easily hide them in the future? Teach them how to use their powers and bring them back the moment they're needed. Renautus is already building a colony in the future, so earth is still habitable even if the cataclysm happens, and Hiro could choose any time he wants, making it essentially impossible for them to be found...

Yeah. I can understand HRG having his memory wiped to protect the kids, but not how the kids explain the Haitian's attempt to kill him or Molly being afraid of him.

He knows their names. He knows what happened to them upon their birth. His knowledge would let Erica track them down and kill them, thereby dooming the world.

Part 2 is this week, so some of the unanswered questions will hopefully be answered.

I don't see hiding them in the future as an option, since they're supposed to be part of what makes the future habitable. Any artificial habitat run by Renautus probably wouldn't be a good place to hide them. Also, they're ultimately supposed to prevent that future, so having their past be part of a future that they're supposed to prevent from happening in the first place would potentially cause an undesirable paradox.

If he's gotten deep enough into things to make it back to the Haitian, the kids are already in trouble. And of course, outside the realm of theory, we as the audience know for a fact that renautus was already onto the girl before HRG ever made it to the Haitian. And the boy has only stayed protected due to the penny man running interference.

That also still wouldn't explain why Molly is afraid of him. Although I'm guessing that might be a result of the 2 HRG's trashing the hospital in some way in the next episode (working on the assumption that they indeed always went to the past).

They're supposed to save the people. Has it ever been mentioned that the Earth would be literally uninhabitable after the event? Because Renautus' little colony suggests otherwise. And even if it was uninhabitable for a while, he could take them past that time.

There's no reason why they couldn't grow up in the future and then travel back in time to the event to save the day.

By the way, it's Renautas. It was spelled "Renautus" in one of their cutely scenery-hugging onscreen captions, but that was a typo.

So the Tropers guesses for Claire's baby daddy:

Tommy and Malina's father is...
Caspar.
Sylar.
A character we haven't met.
West Rosen.
Alex Woolsly.
Zach.
A random sperm donor. She and Gretchen may have wanted kids...

Well, I can think of at least two of those choices that fall firmly within the 'Oh god, please no' category.

I've been loving the show so far.

its really been RG's story, but Jack Coleman is a strong enough actor to carry it.

They did a great job of setting up Zachary Levi in the previews/news to be "the villain", when he turns out to becoming a "hero". Look forward to his confrontation with his wife

For Claire...yeah, pretty cheezy HOW they filmed it, but I let it go, knowing Hayden is out of reach (which is too bad...even 10 minutes would've worked 9 wonders! )

For Hiro...I think they did a plausible job of providing a reason why Hiro couldn't fix things, and why they need to do what they must.

Can't wait for the next episodes

Doyle is so obviously the father. :techman:

...And now the serial killer who tore her open her head and poked around her brain sounds like the preferable option.

So, how exactly does Nathan's ability work? Angela kept going on about keeping him away from Malina so that he didn't take her power, but he came in physical contact with several Evos without taking their power.

I gathered that Nathan/Tommy could only take someone's power when he was in proximity to Malina. Angela said that it was when Malina was taken away that he lost the ability to take new powers, which was why he kept Hiro's power.

So basically, when Quentin called them the Wonder Twins, it was a somewhat apposite analogy. Separately, they only have part of their full power. If Nathan/Tommy can only absorb new powers when he's with Malina, maybe she has some ability that will only activate once she's with Nathan. Maybe Angela was wrong to assume that Nathan would simply take her power.

This one bugged me a bit because it seemed it was trying to have it both ways -- on the one hand, the time loop was part of the original sequence of events, but on the other hand, some things were changed, like Quentin being alive. Then again, maybe Quentin's death was faked, if he was a spy all along. I'm not entirely sure anything was actually changed. Everything that seemed like a change turned out to lead into the original history, usually because of people's memories getting erased. So, yeah, now that I think about it, Quentin has probably been a spy for Erica all along. That actually makes perfect sense, because it explains why he's been so gung-ho about pushing Noah to remember and sticking with him at every turn.

Was there any real reason to bring back Matt Parkman other than wanting an excuse to use Greg Grunberg? That seemed kind of tacked on.

This was one heck of a two parter and things were changed, I do think Molly and Miko are still alive in this version of the present. But poor Hiro, it's oddthough that he stayed in Odessa, if young Matt Parkman or Andro were still around he might've gotten his powers back. And I will be glad when Erica gets what's coming to her.

I'm kind of curious what Angela didn't have the heart to tell Malina. Maybe one of the twins will have to die to save the world?

Time travel sucks. So it appears Mr. Otuko created Katana Girl to ultimately free Hiro from the game, which made it possible for "future Hiro" and Noah to travel back in time to Odessa, TX. For a moment, I thought they created an alternate timeline by having Hiro travel to 1999 and raise baby Nathan/Tommy, but that appeared to be the natural order of things anyway. Now that Bennett is back in the present (2015), few things have really changed. Erica is still after the twins, except Quentin is now a bad guy.

In the span of 30 seconds, I went from "yaassssss, Quentin is alive" to "nnooooo, he's a bad guy now".

Tough to say whether or not he's been working for Erica all along. But it does seem that things have changed. I don't think Erica got shot in the original timeline. We never saw her with a cane before, did we? So some things are different. And considering the shooting led directly to Quentin being reunited with his sister, it's definitely possible that Quentin working for her is a new change.

I liked how the two Noah's didn't have too much trouble accepting the situation when they met each other. They were probably thinking "Yeah, that's how it goes in our line of work."

Gotta give props to the show for giving us an explanation for the death of Claire that I think just about all of us can buy.

Yeah, I thought it was clearly the intention that Quentin being alive and working for Erica (because he got to see his sister a year earlier) were deliberate changes to a timeline that mostly stayed the same. Changes to the timeline don't have to be all or nothing.

I thought it was a bit conveeeeenient that Noah spilled the most important beans to Quentin the first minute after he go back.
