Your favorite planet ?

Capt.Kirk

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
What is your favorite planet in Star Trek the original series personally I love Rigel seven and Eminiar seven the best. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Gideon would have to rank up there. Looking outside the mock up at the populace made me think of a cattle drive. :)

I like the ghost planet from That Which Survives because uh... ghost planet.

A bit more seriously, I always found Delta Vega to be compelling. Part of the appeal was the impression given by the matte work of the station. It had a sense of breadth to it and I appreciated the ripoff of the Jupiter 2s all the way down the line.:)

The other aspect that I really liked was when you got out to see the countryside. It had a wild and primitive feel to it that when added to the intimidating looking crags in the background and the otherworldly sound effect (was this the first time we heard it in the actual broadcast queue?) made it truly seem like an appropriate setting for Mitchell to work his powers in transforming the planet into the vision of whatever he desired it to be.

Well, he didn't quite realize that ambition but at least he wound with a patch of land.

Deneva looked mod and cool. Could do without the flying, stinging pancake things.

Also if the tribbles have a homeworld, would have like to have caught a glimpse. I mean, is everything furry there?

I thought the same on Delta Vega as well as Rigel VII from "The Cage."

This website gives a good perspective of TOS planets (matte work) to TOS-Remastered. I had forgotten some were reused like Tantalus V (at least most of the Delta Vega matte was used. The TOS-R definitely went minimal in completely changing it.

If Ekos and Zeon remained peaceful and have had fifty years of development. They might be interesting places to visit now.
The "Shore Leave" planet might be a fascinating place to visit. But it's in desperate need of some hotels.

I thought that Terra Nova was beautiful with that red atmosphere and the semi-tropical flora and fauna.

Ooops!!!!! Wrong show. But Eden could have used some gussying up. It seemed kind of threadbare in comparison. Oh yeah, money, money, money.
