1872 and 1897, yes, and nods to Carmilla are littered throughout Dracula.
Yes, and Varney the Vampire comes even earlier than those. Writers have always influenced one another. Varney is a fun if slow read. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varney_the_Vampire
Guttenberg has a file for those who'd like to tackle that old penny dreadful. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/14833/14833-h/14833-h.htm

Me! Though I haven't started season two yet. I wanted to wait until there was a good build up of episodes. I'll probably start again this weekend. Huge crush on Laura! I also really like LaFontaine.

When you get to the end of season 2 finale watch through the credits also check the trailer for season 0.

Wait? There's a post-credits scene? I missed that.

Back to YouTube . ....

Whoa! That was quite the eventful post-credits scene. I can't believe I missed that before. Talk about cliffhangers . . . .

With a history like hers you have pretty much no choice but to make her a vampire.

Oh, yeah, Elizabeth Bathory has been a staple of vampire movies and novels for decades now. (Most recently in Fright Night 2 with Jaime Murray as the Countess.)

Granted, some historians question the accuracy of those early accounts of her crimes, claiming they were exaggerated or fabricated by her political enemies, but she's going to be remembered as the Blood Countess anyway.

For what it's worth, I turned her bloody bathtub into a magical artifact in my WAREHOUSE 13 novel . . ..
