Jennifer Lien In Legal Trouble Again

I get the impression that her husband and son have been in California all the time. It's Jennifer who have moved.

A couple of years ago, Jennifer lived in California. Then all of a sudden she is in Roane County, Tennesse, arrested for "domestic assault". It happened in 2012 but I didn't know about it until some tears later when it came up here on Trek BBS.

I got an attack of "playing detective" so I checked on her address in Harriman and also a former address in Hesperia, California. Now that place was a real dump. What I could see, Harriman looked like a far better place to live.

Then we have the recent events.

Sorry to say Lynx, if one does a bit of research, they will find that she's been living in some pretty dilapidated places for quite a long time. I suspect she went to Harriman to be looked after by her parents so maybe she had some decent lodgings for a while. As I recall. their house is in a rather better part of town.

It really is the mugshot that kills me. I know it's been said before, but I really would not have known that was her without the headline. I can see something familiar in the profile, but it still doesn't say 'Jennifer Lien' to me. I know twenty years will age a person, but this is such a drastic change, that her facial features only barely resemble what she looked like during her time on Voyager.

Obviously, I have no idea what the cause is of her behavior, be it a mental disorder, drugs, some combination of the two, or something else entirely, but it's clear that something's wrong, and I hope she gets the help that she needs and takes the chance to recover.

Lien Joined Voyager at 20 years old. Just filling in a few blanks of natural age progression. Voyager was almost 21 years ago! Lien is twice the age she was when Voyager started, the image many of us may have expected to see.

By the way, I feel quite a bit less than uncertain in saying that she has at least another child than her son Jonah. Multiple anecdotal references I have read that have included other personal information about Jennifer can always be questioned for their veracity.

Although she talks about taking care of her "kids" in this 2010 interview, she also only mentions a son in the singular sense. (My son... not "one of my sons".)

I wonder if the "kids" she mentions are stepchildren?

Even in the comparison of the two different mugshots, the one from 2012 and the one now, there's a noticeable difference. I'm not sure what it is, but there's something about the latest one that just really seems off about her.

It's the comparison of those two, really, that makes me inclined to believe that there is some element of drug abuse involved in all this. Again, I really just hope that she can get and accept the help that she needs.

Not to be churish, and with all the hope that she can recover and find the happy life that she deserves, but given how close she and Kate Mulgrew apparently were on the Voyager set, maybe a guest role on Orange Is The New Black beckons. Or the real-life equivalent.....

OITNB's Insurance Company would laugh so hard at that suggestions if our worst fears are true, but as stated repeatedly, we don't know what her issue is and what if anything "chemical" is making it worse.

Why treat her for mental illness if it's heroin addiction, or why treat her for either of those if it's "just" alcohol + a couple bad days, and what if it's just a few bad days without alcohol, and without drugs, and without a psychotic break of some description?

I did actually have one crazy thought.

The main facts known to me are she's been in a badly-funded poor reputation jail in a hardscrabble county in Eastern KY for 2 weeks and counting. A news story i saw said only $2500 bail would get her out, but she's still in.

I find it very sad that neither she nor anyone else has made this bail. Whatever is going on with her, being in such a jail is not making it better, and probably the opposite.

Someone was wondering what 'fans could do.' Well, one thing would be to sit around making snarky gossip. Can anyone think of anything else?

It's possible that she wants to be in jail.

I know that that sounds weird.

But if we are dealing with depression, she might not see the point in leaving, or if it's morbid selfloathing, or a persecution complex, maybe Jennifer is exactly where she thinks she deserves to be.

Oh.

Is it a nice jail?

Word is that she's living in what amounts to a flop.

Jail could be a step up.

Also, pragmatically, if she's just living off residuals, Jennifer can build up a little nest egg, by not paying rent while she's holed up in the pokey, therefore earning $2,500 in a couple months rather then "spending" a similar sum on a bail that she does not have, and might lose if she can't trust her own future behaviour.

Hell, if she was/is on something, she could be using jail as a pro tem gratis rehab, which can't be comfortable but the alternative costs thousands if you can't manoeuvre the county into taking on your burden.

Yes, I know how bailbonds work, but I seriously do not think that a prudent business person would see Jennifer as a good/safe investment.

Looking at her mugshot, for half a second I thought that Jennifer was 6 feet tall, and not 160 centimetres tall.

If Kes was 6 feet tall on the show, then that would have made Chuckles over 8 feet tall.

Odd.

I think I can explain her new terrible hair cut.

Jennifer made the mistake of reading comments online about her mugshot, and that ratty mop got buzzshawn off an hour later.

The world is full of mean pigs who she does not need to answer to or explain herself to.

Which is the sort of mindset that would throw her feet first into drama like this.

These are predictable universal forces at work screwing her over.

If there were no drugs, alcohol and endless rape in prison, then I would agree with you.

All prisons are not created equally.

If where they are keeping her is comparable to a summer camp, or the entire population in county is 12 other women who are mostly sane, then yeah, it's smart to leave her there.

But we don't think any one in her family still cares.

No one made that decision for Jennifer because she has burnt all her bridges, but she could have made the choice to stay all by herself, if it was a choice and not just a fiscal limitation

You may be right. On the other hand, there are situations where someone has bought into that as a passive-aggressive rationalization, and the jail has flat out wrecked or killed the individual.

What's needed is a person who gives a shit, and in a position there to make a judgement based on good knowledge. I've heard nothing to say such a person exists.
