it's only irritating for US because WE know what's happening.
One thing that was kind of stupid was the wife lying to the soldiers. I could understand lying about exposure to Zombie blood, but lying about the grave? Like they can't just dig it up?
As they say, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. But what throws me is the idea they would actually be overrun or wiped out in the process.
If your brother (in arms) gets bit, are you willing and able to put him down? Person A might, and Person B might, but if Person C over in the corner can't, then the whole darn thing could come crashing down.
I think a fair assumption is that half (or more) of the military left their posts to be with and protect their own families. How long are you willing to stay in Los Angeles while you know your wife and children up in Fresno are in danger?
And for that matter, who saw the movie San Andreas this summer? Even the freaking Rock abandoned his post to go save his family.
I guess the stupid part was that the soldier believed she had buried her dog in a human-sized grave behind her suburban house.![]()
I'm sure this has been discussed, but seeing how incredibly efficient and ruthless the soldiers appeared to be in this episode just makes me question even more how they could ever be overrun or defeated in the space of the 2-6 months Rick was in a coma.
I suppose some units could have succumbed to panic and fled, or abandoned their units to be with their families... but the entire freakin military?
Part of me thinks it would have better if we didn't see them at all on this show, suggesting that they had simply been caught off guard or just never had time to properly mobilize against the threat to begin with.
I think it's great. I think the Zombie Apocalypse is unfolding pretty believably, from the Zombie chowdown going mostly unnoticed in the rioting to the ominous shadowy figures shambling into houses. I'm a little disappointed that the military showed up before they got to the desert, because I was kind of curious about how that would work out, but maybe it will still happen.

Eh, who knows? Unless you know ANYTHING about the actual root cause, hard to say why or how it is spreading. Do you have to have contact with a walker, or are people spreading it to each other? Would strongly argue the latter, because there's plenty of dead people becoming undead that have never seen a walker, and likely haven't seen anyone else that has, either. Not a clear vector from walker to fresh walker, I don't think the Army is doing anything useful.
Just as likely to be a bad strain of bird flu, or an attempt to cure cancer (I am Legend). Airborne, or in water supply, SOMETHING went worldwide, and ahead of enough people that could have had contact with a walker (or a person who had).
Scooby Doo vs. The Walking Dead.I guess the stupid part was that the soldier believed she had buried her dog in a human-sized grave behind her suburban house.![]()
Obviously, it was a fully grown Great Dane.![]()
Maybe, but I think everybody probably already has it anyway at this point. Since the creators never want to deal with the origin of the Apocalypse, we'll probably always get inconsistent and contradictory evidence, to prevent us from reaching a conclusion.I think it's great. I think the buried bodies may be the key to WHY the infection spread. She didn't want to risk being forced into quarantine.
This early, based on what the soldiers were saying, being quarantined after exposure halts the spread. That's why Sue's husband went into custody.
But these people (and others like them everywhere) lying about the graves, not admitting to exposure and therefore not being quarantined is why it keeps spreading.

Well, we do know from the parent show it is likely that many people have the zombie virus but are asymptomatic until they die. So if it is contagious then it would be pretty hard to contain without knowing who is actually contaminated.

maybe they'll finally give us "TWD:Origins" or something like that.
