I think "a lot" means you've noticed the existence of some individuals who are not on the left, and you don't approve.

The article itself has Saldana saying some things that are plainly false. I've never seen women's junk exposed at the PG-13 level. And the 2009 Star Trek movie had Chris Pine a lot closer to "naked" than she was. How much more of his junk did she expect to see?
As for the "b-queen, make breakfast" bit, Internet comments sections are notorious for false-flag posts, in which a person on one side of an argument will pretend he's on the other and foul those waters with horrible statements. It's underhanded but it happens a lot.

I read the article and the comments and saw only one person who was posting anything near like what is being complained about by the OP, and nothing at all relating to gays or Christianity. So I would not say A LOT [of people], but I would say SOME [people] out there might have wanted Zoe to dial down the attitude she brought to the role of Uhura. And I seriously doubt that you need to be a professed conservative to hold that opinion.
I understand the decision to make Uhura a more prominent character and give a bit of an action hero angle to her role, but I am still not happy with what I consider to be her bad behavior on the bridge and while on the away mission where she basically tells her captain to butt out of her quarrel with her boyfriend. But this is not your father's Trek!

I think, for feminism, Gene Roddenberry talked a great game but his personal life, and his Star Trek decisions and scripts, were strictly Chauvinist City.

As a general rule, I think we should always give a new guy the benefit of the doubt, and let him figure things out and establish a presence. But also, politics as such is not an allowed topic here. That's why the thread got awkward.

And thankfully so. Trek fans exist across the spectrum of thought and beliefs
I've seen many of Saldana's movies and she isn't a single note actress, which makes me wonder how much of Uhura come straight from her, and how much is from the director and the writers.

There are a lot of double standards in Hollywood about gender but that's not confined to conservatism. And using the comments section of an article doesn't represent general feelings, it only represents the angriest people.
And the comments in this particular article is driven by one obnoxious troll whose goal is more to push buttons than pushing an agenda.
We shouldn't have the attitude that nudity is automatically degrading and exploitative. That's only the case if the sole purpose of the nudity is titillation. And anyone who's paying attention can see that women's clothes come off much faster than men's clothes in situations where nudity is equally appropriate to the story.
