Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I hadn't heard anything about UPS, but cool. Maybe it'll ship a little faster? We have a mailbox at my apartment big enough to hold the boxes we get, and it says something along the lines of "please leave at door" I'm guessing if it won't fit in a mailbox, and half the time I still have to go pick it up at the post office.

I know, I'm whining, what can you do. Anyway, I'm getting excited for the next US shipment, which includes the Centaur.

Picked up the Steamrunner-class model this afternoon, which is out today in the UK. (I didn't bother with the Klingon Augment ship a fortnight ago btw, bit of a bland basic design IMO)

Awesome stuff. Again, like the Centaur last month, it's so cool to have a model of a ship like this. Holding it up it looks kinda weird how the nacelles are part of the saucer, but only because basically every other Starfleet ship has them seperate.
Really nice detailing on the top and undersides, I think the only thing for me is the Deflector Dish is just a blue splodge of paint, rather than a coloured plastic like the (very nice) nacelles and ramscoops are.

And even better the Saber class is out next month, (1st October) and the Norway soon after (10th December) so it won't be long till the First Contact fleet is complete!

And looking at Facebook I don't think a lot of the subscribers even have this yet, must be a late shipment for them. It will be coming with the next issue for them too, the Vulcan D'Kyr class, which from the "next issue" preview pic I'm also not sure I'll bother with, it looks a bit basic and lacking certain coloured detailing. I'll wait and see when all the subscribers post their pics on facebook

Because my local WHSmith is now only doing these by subscription only I've ordered this and the next few I want from Forbidden Planet so should get mine in the post in a week or so. Anyway, my point being, anychance of a photo or two ol' chap?

Is it too late to get a subscription now? The link on their website to subscribe leads nowhere, and no one from customer support has answered my emails.

Is there a cheap way to just get specific models in America/Canada like there is in the UK?

There's a few on the facebook page now, but even better this guy always does good youtube reviews of the ships, and the Steamrunner review is up

D'oh!
Steam runner....not St r eamrunner.

Actually, according to the Memory Alpha entry, it WAS originally supposed to be called that, but the extra "R" got dropped at some point. It's not clear whether it was intentional or by accident (thought I suspect the latter).

Yeah it says in the magazine it was meant to be Streamrunner, as it was named after a song from a band (I forget who) but it ended up being shortened to Steamruner, which they still thought sounded kinda cool anyway.

So they've announced that the price of issues will going up slightly (at least in the UK) from £9.99 to £10.99, from issue 56. It won't however affect subscribers.

Just to cover costs, general inflation, etc. Ben on Twitter just less people are buying them now so it's a way to make a little more cash I suppose. I'm not gonna cry over a pound more personally, especially when I don't buy every issue anyway. As long as they keep up the quality on the likes of the Centaur & Steamrunner I'll be happy.

Here in the states I have three subscriptions for this, and they range from 39 a month to the last one being 44 a month. So I am already used to having a different rate for the same thing. All told I am extremely pleased (with a few exceptions) from his series, getting something I never dreamed I would ever get.

If loss of subscribers is the reason as opposed to change of cost over the two years, I am now getting more and more worried that we won't ever get past the 90. And I really want past 90.

That's probably what I should start doing, actually. Buying select issues. My room is overly cluttered enough as it is, and unfortunately the inflated prices accentuate that.

Thta'ts what I just did, unfortunately. I was an early, pre-orderer, but I've just run out of room. I stopped with issue 50 ($1000+ in models. Ouch!), since I still have 6 models sitting in their package due to lack of space. I plan on adding another shelf and then buying select issues a la carte moving forward.

No offense but I hope there are not as many of you out there. The more people cancel their subscriptions the less likely we'll get farther into those ships we've never seen made.

Some people want to be more cautious with that amount of money, £1000+ on glorified toys isn't a great idea.

Why not? I see many people spend way more than that on their "toys", be they boats, season sports tickets, swimming pools, etc. So I don't see this as excessively expensive as any other hobby.

It's also spread over 2 years. It costs a tonne less than Smoking, or a Coffee a day at Starbucks.

I just picked up the E-C and TOS Enterprise and the one thing I noticed was the scale of the c next to the E-E and TOS. The C is huge next to the E.
