Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

^ Can we be honest for a second regarding the "duty uniform?"

Do we know really it's a duty uniform? It could be a slightly warmer uniform than normal that Scotty is wearing.
Can you really see that much detail on it? The uniform will look considerably different on a four story screen with an HD RED cam on it rather than a little phone spy cam. It's hard to pass judgment on something until you actually see it for what it is. Particularly at low rez.

Whatever type of uniform it is, based on Scotty's, over at Trekcore, they're saying that looking back on it, what Quinto was wearing in the dressing room wigs selfie was a reaveal of this new uniform, too. If so, the Starfleet emblem must a pin, as they were in TNG, and not permanently attached to the uniform.

They were metal pins in the first two nuTrek movies.

You're right, of course. I guess it just hadn't occurred to me until I saw a uniform without one (Spock's in STB). Also, it looks more like a pin on Scotty's uniform in the STB stills than I remember it looking on the other uniforms.

i'm kinda interested if the Duty uniforms from the previous two films have been phased out by the time Star Trek Beyond begins.

Well... That is interesting.

Shoulder and knee pads plus shin protectors in the uniform and a hand phaser in a quickdraw holster.

It's almost as if Kirk is out there exploring some kind of frontier... some kind of... final frontier...

I'd call it more of a practicality than trying to cop everyone's favorite space pirate (unless you're into anime, then your favorite space pirate is probably Captain Scarlett).
Harlock, actually.:techman:

Completely off-topic, just because I kind of brought them up on the last page... The crazies are out again. Here, The Fox (aka Fred Archer on Facebook or Jake as he was known until he was scared off by myself, Dennis and several others) suggests that a forthcoming untitled Judd Apatow movie set for a September 2016 release might actually be a Prime Star Trek movie.

Riiiiiiight.

:guffaw:

Hey, now!

I'm excited for Starshipwreck. Or would it be The 40 Year Old Talaxian? Joined Up? (All about Trills.)

:p

DAHH!!!!!! Where did I get Scarlett from?

(hides head behind rock)

How can I face my nerdy friends if I can't even get that right? (bag over head) For shame!

:D

Probably from Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, crossed with Scarlett O'Hara (or her G.I. Joe namesake?). Although there is a 1953 swashbuckler film called Captain Scarlett.

Ok. Cool. Thank you. :)
(Note to self: Make sure I double check my character references before posting....if I can remember that.)

Whatever the ship is, given that large of a set piece can't be cheap, it seems likely that what goes on at the crash site after the crash is at least as important and the crash, itself. If it was just about a crash, it could've been all CGI.

You want a laugh? There's a wannabe movie expert on another site who claims that the construction of this set is evidence that Paramount is "cheaping out" on the movie.

Reasoning?

Wrong kind of green screens.

Talk about desperation...

Seeing Sofia Boutella's makeup makes me wonder if we're headed back to Nibiru?

Since the civilization on Nibiru was described as having "barely invented the wheel," I doubt that one of them would be suddenly proficient in robotics as shown.

Little known fact that the Federation doesn't know about- they only encountered the male population of Niburu in STID.

The female Niburians(?) live underground, have various pieces of technology (including a brain enhancing machine) and like to steal internal organs.

"Spocked Up"

I would personally fund a Judd Apatow Star Trek movie, if only to watch the Talifans' heads explode like something on Game Of Thrones.
