So far I'm not a big fan of season 5. I don't like Byron and his group, and I don't know why they had to have that background between Sheridan and Lochley.

Don't worry that Sheridan/Lochley background isn't really mentioned more than once or twice.

I don't think Byron is intended to be likeable. Someone Lyta falls for, but not someone who the audience needs to like.

I don't think many people are fans of season 5. I'm not one either. When I re-watch the show, I start from season 2, then 3 and 4, then 1, and as the last one — 5 :D

I don't get it. It's a complete story season 1 to 5. Why not just watch it as it unfolds episode-to-episode? Season 5 has great stuff in it; good moments in the first few episodes, and the last 9 episodes are the best part of the entire show IMO. The rumors of people not liking season 5 are greatly exaggerated.

I agree. I wouldn't read a book out of order and B5 was designed as a novel for television. I love each season for different reasons but all of them are necessary.

Because I know the story, and could watch any random episode out of order, and still know what's going on.
I choose to re-watch starting from my favourite chapters, and thus enjoy it more. Your problem with that is not my problem :p

I think the best thing about season 5 are the opening credits. My favorite theme from the show.

No one has a problem with it. You could watch all the episodes upside down and backwards for all it affects me.

    I still don't get it.

    Annnnnnnd Done!
I finished Season 5 last night, and it's my least favorite season, but it had sione decent parts to it. Sleeping In Light was a nice ending to the series.
So the question to the group is, should I but the movie set? The version I had didn't have the Pilot episode, and the move set has the Pilot, plus several movies that I have heard are not that well done.

    And I still don't care :)

I'm a completest, so Yes, get the Movie set. Its all bonus B5, as the real meat is Seasons 2-4.

    Great series!

Just started my first Trek with Babylon 5 this past Sunday. Already on episode 11. Lmao what people have been saying is true. There is a HUGE DS9 vibe on the way Babylon 5 (the station) is set up. Seems this is more an example of multiple discovery, rather than theft of JMS' 1991 pitch to Paramount. I recall Rick Berman saying that him and Michael Piller had approached Gene about doing a space station show during before season 5 of TNG. Around the time TUC was slated to come out.

So far so good. I like the show.

Lol on episode 17. There's a Minbari names Dukat? Lol that's hilarious.

Ironically, DS9 season 1 episode 17 parodies B5's dealing with Ambassadors by making Bashir the punching bag of their demands.

Finished Season 1 and now on Season 2. Good first season. I will say it kept my attention more than DS9's first season. I attribute that to B5 being more ambitious from the get go and world building it's mythos.

Already miss Commander Sinclair. Hopefully Captain Sheridan grows on me.

I think Sheridan/ Bruce Boxlightner really gives the show the last ingredient it needed to make it awesome.

Sheridan has refreshing energy and reminds me a little of Captain Kirk. His journey on the show is a good one, and makes him my favorite character.

Just thinking about it.makes me consider a rewatch this summer.

Just finished War Without End Part 1 and 2.

    Ambassador Sinclair/Michael O'Hare!!!

I read up about his struggle with mental illness. Truly sad. JMS heartfelt story of O'Hare dedication to the role and to the show; allowing it to continue without him, when JMS wanted to put it on hiatus/cancel it.

    True class act.

    Edit to add
Finished Season 3. Boss! This show is boss. Starting season 4 now.

It's totally boss! Season 4 is stellar, stellar TV SF.

I always think, "If only B5 had DS9's budget..."

It all still worked out for B5. DS9 had liberties B5 didn't because of the name Star Trek.

The Fall of Centauri Prime has to be one of the best of the series let alone season five! The three novels that address the next seventeen years are excellent too!

I've discovered B5 rather late, but I still love it.
