Abrams vs Fibonacci, or "Why the 09 Enterprise looks 'off' "

It's insidious, but ingenious and effective. And objectively, it's the most perfect product placement/starship ever devised. That's just science.

Precisely. I'm convinced that's why the JJPrise is coming back for its third straight movie. Why, such a feat has not been accomplished since 2002's Nemesis! No movie ship has done pulled that off since the E-E.

And scientifically speaking, I'm sure that most people will agree with me there factually. I believe that strongly about it.

Look at something for 50 years, and when you see a new version with different proportions it's going to look "off". I don't think there's any more to it than that.

Yep. I have had that Target BluRay model on my desk at work for years, I'm so used to the proportions now they don't bother me in the slightest. If I could change only one thing about the ship, I don't think it would be to rearrange anything, but I believe I would prefer if the nacelle caps had more of an original Enterprise coloration.

Heh. Nice coincidence. I've got that same model on my desk at home, and I've come to feel the same way you do. Especially looking at it from above, I like the look of the nacelles being closer together than on the TOS ship. (Not that I don't like the TOS ship.)
