If one wants to infiltrate an Imperial base without looking suspicious, you will need a more or less Human crew, as the majority of Imperials you will have to impersonate are Humans.
She's a lead, for crying out loud. So is Ray in The Force Awakens. Well, basically.Ugh, once again, a large cast with a whole one woman in it. Get your shit together already Star Wars.
Better than nothing, but still far from equality. She's a lead, for crying out loud.

It's early, but this just might win the internet for the day.You refer to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the sexes.

There's also Leia, Phasma, and Maz Kanata. I'm not as sure about Kanata since they're a CGI alien, but they are at least played by a woman. We don't know for sure how big of a role they are playing, but based of off how much we see her in the trailers and photos, Phasma seems to be a pretty big player. A lot of the photos we've seen of Kylo Ren also have Phasma in them.Better than nothing, but still far from equality. She's a lead, for crying out loud.
Yes exactly. Making a female a lead or even the lead is a good thing sure. It does nothing to cure the fact that Star Wars is consistently noticeably short on female characters.
Yeah, seven men and a single woman in that photo... It's a bit disproportionate, I agree.Better than nothing, but still far from equality. She's a lead, for crying out loud.

So they'll need to find a young actor with Harrison Ford's charisma... It's not impossible, and it's not that I don't trust Kasdan to deliver a solid script, it's just... A big part of me wishes they left Han Solo alone.
If we're including the tv shows then there's also Satine, Asajj, Hera, Sabine, and Ahsoka.
It's still heavily skewed towards male overall, but let's not pretend that Leia is the only prominent female character in the franchise.
^Wouldn't that contradict the deleted scene from ANH that has Bigg telling Luke he and a bunch of others plan of jumping ship and joining the rebellion the next time their ship jumps to an inner system? Something about a friend of a friend on Bestine who might make a connection to the Alliance IIRC.
All this would have had to have happened in the, what? Three or four days that passes from when the droids make landfall in the escape pod and they all show up at Yavin with Biggs already there? All of which I might add would have to have happened *after* the events of 'Rogue One' and the theft of the plans.
Granted it's a deleted scene that wasn't restored in any of the various re-edits, so technically they can do what they want with the character, but still...
The "but still" part is completely irrelevant here. Deleted scenes aren't canon. Period.Granted it's a deleted scene that wasn't restored in any of the various re-edits, so technically they can do what they want with the character, but still...
Biggs did fine in the Battle of Yavin. He was in an impossible position covering Luke, but he did his duty.
