Supergirl TV Series is being work on.

Or Alex Danvers.

Not intended to be a 'distaff counterpart' or analogue to Lex in any way.

If you're going to bring in an actual distaff counterpart to Lex, Lena Thorul would be the most logical choice, although there's also the earlier and separate character of Nasthalthia Luthor (I'd personally prefer Lena, since you'd get to play with the same character beats yet not be saddled with the ridiculousness of having a character whose nickname is "Nasty").

There's always Luthor's niece Nasthalthia "Nasty" Luthor. She's probably best known today for her appearance in All-Star Superman, but she was introduced in 1970 as a foe for Supergirl.

^Hmm, somehow I missed that mention in your post.

Lena isn't evil, though. Her and Lex's parents changed their family name to avoid the shame of Lex's crimes (much like Osama bin Laden's family did in real life), and she grew up without knowing that Lex was her brother. Or are you thinking of the post-Crisis version that was Lex's daughter abducted and infected by Brainiac?

I would rather see more newly created characters than just dumping a bunch of "known" characters into the series.

I wasn't aware that Lena (pre-Crisis) wasn't intended to be a villain, but even so, I don't see any reason why they couldn't use her as an adversary if they wanted to (maybe combine story elements from her character and that of Nasthalthia).

I dunno, I just don't see the appeal of making Lena a villain. The whole point of her as a character, or so it seems to me from what I recall of her, is that she's the one good and innocent thing in Lex Luthor's life, someone that he secretly cares about and who's untouched by his villainy. It seems wrong to make her into just a female equivalent of Lex.

Okay.

An existing Supergirl-exclusive villain I'd like to see them utilize is Lesla-Lar. The idea that she's a direct doppelganger of Kara (but without being a clone) is really intriguing, and you could easily tie her in with the Fort Rozz escapees such as The Commander and his superior, especially since she's Kandorian.

I had to look up Lesla-Lar. Good grief, she and Lena Thorul are both lookalikes for Supergirl? Melissa Benoist could end up playing as many doubles as Lucy Lawless did on Xena.

Where did you get the impression that Lena looks like Kara from? I can't find any indication of such being the case anywhere in the source material.

That's what Wikipedia's article on Lesla-Lar said. I'm not sure if it's true, but it wouldn't be surprising; lookalikes were a common trope in '60s comics. Alicia Masters of Fantastic Four was originally supposed to be a dead ringer for Sue Storm aside from her hair color. And I can recall at least one Silver Age Superman story involving Lois falling for an alien who was a dead ringer for Superman (and I'm not sure if his commensurate resemblance to Clark was ever mentioned).

It would be cool if the Legion Of Superheroes show up at some point. I still think a LoSH show would be cool, expensive but cool. :bolian:

The Legion did not appear enough.

Saturngirl and Supergirl used to play sisters on a different tv show.

That conflict was not explored enough.

I hope we see Power Girl eventually.

That would be nice.

Unless it is different is the current continuity, Power Girl and Supergirl were never identical in appearance so who could play Power Girl?

In fact, Earth 2 and Earth 1 heroes only looked the same when the characters had not been officially "rebooted" at one point. Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, etc.
