Fantastic Four reboot-- Casting, Rumors, Pix, ect;

Maybe if it's really bad, they could sell it as a make out movie?

"Sit in a dark room for 2 hours and suck face, there might be a movie playing."

Just what is it that you hate so much about the previous two movies ? I own them both, and whilst they're not in the same league as the best MCU movies, they're perfectly competent superhero movies.

They would've been perfectly competent superhero movies in the 1990s. By the standards of their time, they were somewhat simplistic and cheesy. I don't hate them, but they're not particularly good.

The first one suffers mainly because the FF aren't actually heroes. If anything, they act more like villains. The only time they actually try to help other people is when they cause a near-disaster through their own actions, and in the finale, they're only fighting to protect themselves, not anyone else -- and worse, they risk destroying the entire world in order to protect just themselves, the most staggeringly selfish and irresponsible thing I've ever seen movie "heroes" do.

I'd sy any shortcomings are due to the FF themselves, but then, I've never really been a fan...
No, the shortcomings are because the movies didn't portray the FF all that well. They're much richer characters in the comics. For instance, the Sue Richards of the modern comics is a remarkably powerful, intelligent, capable figure, succeeding as an explorer and diplomat and superhero while also being the mother of two of the most powerful superbeings on Earth. Not only is she the glue that holds the fractious FF together and keeps their eccentricities in check, but she's the first person you'd turn to if you wanted a negotiator to avert an interstellar war. Conversely, Jessica Alba's Sue Storm was basically defined by her ability to look good in her underwear. Which was certainly playing to Alba's strengths, but didn't do the character justice.

Christopher, I don't think I've ever agreed with you more. This sums up my feelings exactly.

With terrorism and nutjob dictators being such a big issue, I'm kind of surprised they haven't gone that direction with Doom. Hell, they could just make him a Putin pastiche and they'd be all set. I don't know a ton about the character yet, but that's pretty much the first place my mind goes when I think Dr. Doom.

Yeah I just read the 5 reviews on there, and it sounds like the movie is just as dull, muddled, and humorless as the trailers made it look.

I'll be surprised if the final RT score goes any higher than 30% on this.

Emma Dibdin of Digital Spy thinks the dark tone simply didn’t fit the film’s source material, saying, “The biggest mistake here seems to have been trying to marry a dark and realistic tone with the story of four teenagers whose superpowers include transforming into rock, generating force fields and becoming very stretchy.
Sounds like in their zeal to make another Dark Knight, they completely missed the essence of what the FF is all about. Many in this very thread predicted this.

I'm still going to see it in the theater, though. The FF were my first Marvel crush and I can't not go.

Screen Junkies has done their Honest Trailer for the Tim Story movies.
My favorite part: "Make a Mexican woman put on a blond wig and blue contacts to play Sue Storm and no one bats an eye, cast a black guy as the Human Torch and everyone LOSES THEIR MINDS".

Alba looked terrible with the wig and contacts, but that was only in the sequel. Alba looked fine in the first movie.

I blame the producers for listening to fans to make her look so bad for the sequel.

This should surprise no one but it will cause some were intent on holding out hope despite the writing on the wall.

I do think people seem overeager to take a dump on this one so I'm a bit skeptical it's as bad as might be written. And that Hollywood Reporter review is pretty bad on its own. I'm not sure it's a great film but I haven't written it off as possibly being an OK timewaster just yet.

This film could use some moral support....

Gimme an F!

Gimme an A!

Gimme an N!

Gimme a T!

Gimme a 4!

Gimme an S!

Gimme another T!

Gimme an I!

Gimme a C!

What's that spell?

What's that spell??

What's that spell???

Yeah, I don't know either....
