When I had this figure the first time, I put one foot in the bucket to help keep Odo standin'.

Went by Hasting's after work, picked up the Harley Quinn & Mr. Hammer double pack, to go with the Penguin & Sickle.

Art Asylum Trek figures don't come with any kind of figure stands? It's been a long time since I've seen any of them in person so I can't remember if the ones made for Enterprise came with stands inside the packages.

Well, first off, none of AA's Trek figs actually had any peg holes in their feet. That said, some of their figures did come with display stands. Their TNG line did for the first two waves, and the Enterprise line did for the first wave.

    Thanks for the clarification.

It does seem a little strange that figures with no peg holes in their feet would come with stands, but that's happened with a few Star Wars figures over the years as well.

I've so far gotten most of the third wave of the World of Nintendo Figures, Nobody's seems to have had them anywhere so I resorted to using Ebay.

    Sorry to jet...but I'm in a hurry.

I really like Clint and Tasha on the boat! I got a Jewel Hair Mermaid Midge doll in the mail today. She has long (down below her feet) red hair and a blue jeweled mermaid outfit. Really pretty.

What? Wave 3? I haven't even seen most of wave 2! I'm pretty convinced that Samus, Ganondorf and the Metroid are just myths.

Picked up a 6" Black Series Clone Trooper Sergeant at a local Walgreens earlier tonight. It's not my favorite of the 6-inch Clones but he looks pretty cool and his green striping and other details are a little cleaner than the red ones are on the newer Clone Trooper Captain.

I was lucky enough to find a World of Nintendo Samus figure a week or two before Wave 2 was officially supposed to be out. Wave 1 was pretty easy to obtain all the figures though I had to get Bowser on amazon. I'm glad I got him when I did because now he's discontinued.

For Wave 2, I have all the 4 inch figures consisting of Luigi, Blue Toad, Diddy Kong and Samus. Samus and Luigi were pretty much the rarest of the bunch. I think I saw four Samus figures in total at random locations. My Toys R. Us is still stocked with a bunch of Diddy Kong's and Toads. I don't think Gannondorf or Metroid made it to the US as I never saw them and I'm not about to pay scalper prices for them either.

Wave 3 was said to be on the shelves in July but for every week I checked my Toys R. Us, Targets, K-Mart's, Meijer's and Wal-Mart's and Nothing. I see the 2.5 inch figures and the Micro Land figures but the 4 inch figures are a rarity. I don't know what's going on but Jakks really needs to get on it.

I almost have all of wave 3. I caved in and bought Peach and Fox on Ebay for more than I should have but I was desperate. A friend of mine in New York got me the Fire Mario and Goomba figure and I got Pink Yoshi on ebay for pretty cheap.

Here's my whole World of Nintendo currently.

The original Kenner Rancor Monster? Cool! I never had him when I was a kid and the very first Rancor ever made still looks great even after more than 30 years. Great figures, man!

In other Star Wars collecting news, these new Hasbro Star Wars displays have started showing up at Walmarts in different parts of the country (this one was photographed in Pennsylvania) to get ready for the Force Friday/September 4th launch of toys from The Force Awakens. Right now it looks like some Walmarts are receiving and stocking Wave 8 of the 3.75" Black Series line which is the newest wave assortment and one that hadn't yet been seen at American retail.

This final wave of 3.75" figures before the new Episode VII toys premiere contains:

    Mosep Binneed
    Jawas 2-pack
    Han Solo in Carbonite
    Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise
    C-3PO (Vintage Collection repack)
Commander Thorn (realistic-style from The Clone Wars)

Along with carry forwards of Chewbacca, Darth Vader (Dagobah Test) Dutch Vander and Captain Rex from Wave 7, only this time on multilingual cardbacks that no longer have the characters' bios on the reverse sides of their cards. If you collect Star Wars figures and were looking forward to the last wave of Black Series characters before the new movie's toys are released, check your local Walmarts and see if they've received this new display and/or the figures!

Yes, I got him from ebay. I like the fact that it looks exactly like the monster in the film, and yet isn't tooo overly detailed.. so it still has the simple charm of all of the Kenner figures of the time. In fact, when Mad magazine did a spoof of Jedi, they drew the rancor monster and - while I find it interesting that all of the drawings were pretty accurate to the film.. look at how close their rancor is to the Kenner verson

Also, there's a lever in the back to control his mouth. His arms have very cool ball and socket shoulders for movement. His legs also move but they are actually different lengths so that he can stand in that classic rancor pose.

I finally was able to pick up the Marvel Legends Captain Marvel figure for a reasonable price at the comic book store over the weekend, along with on a whim...my first Iron Man figure...the Marvel Legends AOU Ultron BAF Mark 43 Iron Man. Think both are pretty awesome.

That is pretty close to the Kenner toy! They knew how to engineer figures well and make them a lot of fun back then, as evidenced by the lever and play features on the original Rancor. To be sure, the Rancors released since and starting in 1998 are a lot more screen-accurate but since so many of us collect the Modern figures to display more often than play with them I'd say the '80s Kenner Rancor is probably the most fun from the perspective of being a toy.

Figures back then were more quasi-accurate playthings and many had little more than a passing resemblance to the movie characters, but man, were they so much fun to play with and use to stretch the childhood imagination! Good times! :)

My new 3.75" Star Wars figure scores, thanks to both the biggest area Walmart and a nearby GameStop:

    1 x Captain Rex
    1 x Jon "Dutch" Vander
    1 x Commander Thorn
1 x Princess Leia Organa (Boushh)
    1 x Mosep Binneed
1 x Han Solo in Carbonite
    1 x Jawas 2-pack

Now I'm completely caught up on the Black Series 3.75" line except for three figures: the #09 R2-D2 from back in Wave 2, the new Clone Commander Doom and the C-3PO repack from the Vintage Collection.

i completely agree. It's hard to articulate the point that we are both trying to make. The Kenner toys were accurate, yet, they were also simple and as a result, allowed kids to imagine that there was more to them.

    They are absolutely charming.

Today's Star Wars toys are miniature display pieces. Classic Kenner Star Wars toys were toys.
