One of my favorite wrestlers growing up, he and Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and half a dozen others helped make my childhood fun and unforgettable.

Besides the wrestling They Live is a total classic schlocky movie.
Yeah, I remember that movie. It was a schlocky, popcorn munching fun time. Roddy didn't do too bad an acting job in it at all.
I enjoyed his antics in the world of wrestling, when I used to watch wrestling.

My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing Roddy many, many times in the late 80s and early 90s, when the then WWF would come to the Richfield Coliseum. I still remember him at the very first Survivor Series, in 1987.
Thanks for all the great memories, Roddy. You will be missed.

This kills me, RIP Hot Rod. In just the last few weeks, he's been feuding in real life with Steve Austin over his crazy drunken podcast after Steve forced an episode to be pulled due to Roddy having Will Sasso do a devastating impression of Austin. Rowdy to the end.
Wonder if Ronda Rousey who named herself Rowdy after getting permission from Piper will honor him sometime at her fight tommorrow.
Time to dig out the They Live DVD I think.

Professional wrestlers are probably the most underrated and underappreciated athletes in the world today, at least to the non-fans out there that think it is all just another form of play-acting.
The staggering amount of abuse that these men and women put themselves through to entertain us takes its toll sooner or later, and so many of them leave us way before their time.

I'm watching They Live right now in honor of Roddy. An underappreciated acting talent and a truly good guy who made lots of friends, seemed to genuinely like and enjoy his fans and made a positive impact on both the pro wrestling world and popular entertainment.
