I do always get the impression that JJ-Trek is just a finger at Prime Trek fans.

Fortunately in my head Old-Spock in those films is from another alternate universe so what happens there has nothing to do with the Trek I know and love

And this honestly a position that I have tried to understand and thus far have failed at doing so.

I welcome any explanation or discussion to that effect. Feel free to PM me the explanation but in the years since I have participated in 4 different forums regarding this film, I still don't get it and maybe I won't get it. But, I welcome discussion.
