X-Men: Apocalypse announced for May 2016

^ They've been getting better. There were a couple of images in the Collider article. The video they showed is supposed to be unfinished.

This is rough footage without visual effects or audio post-production work -- Isaac explicitly noted that he'd be CGI-augmented and with an altered voice (though I think the voice here is fine).

^ already trashing the movie based on a tiny, crappy quality video, where you can't even see half the screen, and as had already been said it's far from finished.

Ah, I love people on the internet.

Yes, because it's enough to give an opinion on both his voice and his appearance. They're not going to make his voice unrecognizable, so that's a very close approximation to the final product. No amount of reverb or similar effects is going to make him as intimidating and awe-inspiring as he should be. They're clearly going charismatic over intimidating with the character.

But hey, you're making judgements on other people's opinions without knowing anything about them. Ah, how I love hypocritical people on the internet.

Sorry, but no. You simply don't judge an unfinished product. You don't know yet how it will end up. Yes, they CAN alter his voice plenty.

However, you have already decided that it will not be good enough, no matter what they do. You aren't giving this a change anymore. When this movie will be released, you will sit down in the theaters, and even before the trailers have started, you will have decided already that this is trash.

Be an adult, and reason like one. This was a crappy quality clip of raw footage, that hasn't even been worked on. Judge when you see an end result, not a work in progress.

"They are clearly going for..." What kinda comment is that anyway? Do you know the director? The producers? The designers? Do you seriously know anything about their motivations, or their plans for the FINISHED PRODUCT?
No, you don't. So don't come here and make grandious claims on how 'they are clearly doing the thing', when you don't know.

Christ, I know I'm ranting, but I'm so sick and tired of fanboys deciding before hand something's gonna suck, without even having seen the effing movie!!

He's certainly smaller than comics Apocalypse but, if they aren't using CGI, that's to be expected. Love the voice and dialogue. I'm sure they'll work on things a bit too (especially if they're going to augment him through CGI). Definitely intrigued.

Also loved Storm in the mohawk (although I'm partial to regal Storm over punk Storm).

Not sure I'm keen on the idea of Apocalypse directly controlling mutants, if that can be inferred to be true from the rough footage. He's never had that degree of power in the comics even though he's one of the more powerful characters.

I never read any of the Apocalypse comics, but I was under the impression from the stuff I've read online, that he controlled, or at least brainwashed, his Horesmen.

I don't think we can figure out quite that much from the trailer.

He did indeed brainwash most of those who served as Horsemen (though not always), and Apocalypse's Celestial technology does give him a range of benefits that makes him a very dangerous enemy. But as far as directly controlling mutants, which seems to be a possibility for the film, that was never one of his abilities. My understanding insofar as his mutation is that it seems related to his near immortal lifespan and his physical resistance, though I may be wrong on some of that.

There are mutants whose abilities allow them to take control of others, such as Karma (psionics) or Wallflower (pheromones). I agree with Alidar that it's too early to judge yet.

Well, Kitty Pryde in the comics never had the ability to mind-meld with people and send their consciousness back in time. Movies change things, especially the X-Men movies. I can see why an Apocalypse that uses technology to brainwash mutants could be simplified into an Apocalypse that can directly control their minds, for the sake of storytelling efficiency.

Heck, much the same thing was done in X2, where Col. Stryker used his mutant son to mind-control Xavier directly, whereas Rev. Stryker in God Loves, Man Kills used an extended torture and brainwashing process to bend Xavier to his will.
