How should Neelix have left ship?

The Overlord

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I saw a review of Homestead and the reviewer did not care for Neelix and felt Neelix deserved a far more ignoble (and perhaps violent) exit from the show:

Do you think Neelix deserved a happy ending? Do you like the way he exited the show? Should Neelix's exit have been different?

sfdebris' hate of Neelix is a running gag. But just imagine how much duller and blander the show would have been without him... and I say that as someone who thinks the VOY cast is pretty great.

I don't think he should have left at all. There was no reason for his character to leave the ship. He had never once expressed a homesickness for Talax or Rinax and was adamantly looking forward to being in the Federation with the crew (for evidence, see his hallucination in "Bliss").

No, they should have kept him on. It would have made a great contrast to have him commenting on Federation life and being on the other side of the galaxy from his home like the Voyager crew had been since they met him.

Of course, that would have required a better-written final arc and finale.

I was quite happy for him to find his fellow Talaxians including partner and stepson.

According to that what we know about the relaunch noves, it is even possible for him to visit the AQ one day.

Regular access to an eager vagina?

Neelix spent years convincing himself that he was a sexless, penis-lacking sweetie pie uncle figure. His role as primary care-giver to the dead-behind-the-eyes child known as Kes forced him into that belief.

Then after she left, his penis suddenly began remembering its function as a magnificent tool for embracing the immense pleasures of existence. This erotic awakening was further compounded by his sexually aggressive encounter with the Klingon woman. That was the final nail in the coffin of his forced, disingenuous, kindly uncle Neelix persona.

Then when Dexa provided an opportunity for him to fully embrace his true self, he took it. Good for him.

He got the ending he deserved. A life free from the tedious self inflicted prison that both he and Kes had jointly created then spent years trying to escape from.

They both succeeded (but she got old and died because Ocampan lifespan's are silly)

Neelix and the rest of Voyager's crew survived the vengeance of Kes' older self.

With Dexa there are many little Neelixes possible. They have to secure the existence of the Talaxian people after all.

Naomix, Parix, Tuvix, Doctix, Troubadix, Oxylyn, Sevix, Sexka, Lexitay..... hux-ley :D

Both he and Kes should have been on the ship when they got back to Earth, Kes with a prolonged lifespan.

"Homestead" is one of the Voyager episode I never watched and because of the fact that Neelix is kicked out, I have no intention to watch it either.

Don't forget Kex!

As for Kes, that crazy old demon who they say visited the ship was not the real Kes.

The real Kes was brought back from her non-corporal existance by Q, given a human lifespan. Then she ended up on a Maquis ship which also had been brought to the Delta Quadrant. With their help she found her way to the Alpha Quadrant where she lives on a planet not so far from Bajor and sometimes participates in adventures on her own, like rescuing Janeway from space pirats and such. :)

Sounds nicer than the things David Mack did with Kes in his MU stories.

On the other hand: it was just one Kes. There are myriads of Keses. Hopefully with a better fate than Mirror Kes.

That sounds rather like the episode that shall not be named.. only I assume there was blood.

All I can say is `Rise like Lions` by David Mack. Despite all the violence I felt for Kes. Mirror Neelix and Mirror Kes had to suffer a lot after all.....

I'm always delighted to see hux confirm that he For Sure Knows Where Babies Come From, but IIRC Neelix was in a romantic relationship with Kes (that presumably included sex) for the bulk of her time on the show. So I can't help wondering if He Just Needed to Discover His Inner Pick-Up Artist isn't just a wee tiny bit forced as an explanation.

The reason for his character to leave the ship is much more obviously that Earth isn't home for him and it makes zero sense for him to go "back" to it when there's a community of his own people (including of course the "eager vagina" and its surrounding conveyance and vending system) available who also need him.

I like Neelix and I enjoyed his final episode, I have always found it quite touching.

The whole episode is like the writers giving an explanation of what they had wanted Neelix to be and what he represented.

I liked the guy and Tuvok's 'Dance' at the end [along with the guard of honour] always gets to me.

Perhaps you can only understand sexuality through a binary system of insipid sexuality which exists opposite one filled with full blown pick-up artists and moustache twirling Dickens characters? For many people, it's a significantly more wonderful and fluid experience.

Neither of these characters demonstrate any sexuality or heat towards each other whatsoever throughout their entire relationship. Kes first discovers the very concept of sexual chemistry in "Darkling" with that piece of man-piss called Zahir. Later in the "Prophecy" episode, Neelix exhibits an aggressive sexual craving utterly non-existent prior to that with the swollen bosomed Kilingon.

If their relationships was sexual then it must have been tedious and infantile.

And if it had been a male only Takaxian colony?
