It really doesn't make sense to me at all ...

I do hope this new film restores some goodwill with the disgruntled fans.

More info is coming my way, bad robot has secured private funds to shoot for a week in the hope the movie will be granted a budget. Paramount has said they not changing their mind and if bad robot wants to continue it will be without support and will be released as a fan film

Is this what we'll have to deal with for three months of shooting?

I wish they'd go jerk off on their Mego action figures and leave the rest of us the fuck alone.

There has already been tens of millions of dollars committed to this project. The actors and the behind-the-scenes people aren't doing this for free and most don't get paid by the week.

I still don't get this whole 'there is no third movie it's all lie' stuff and the fact they still don't give up. If they are not interested about the reboot oh well.. it's not like someone forces them to watch the movie, right?
Unfortunately a lot of people on the internet have this belief that when they dislike something they have to brainwash everyone into disliking it too or at the very least ruin the party for those who like the thing and are excited about the news. I don't think they'd believe it if Roddenberry came back from the grave and said, "Guys... seriously. New reboot movie. 2016. Get over it." They'd still say Abrams was paying Gene's corpse off.

I think their criticisms (when they actually take the time to voice them) are valid. They don't think its THEIR Star Trek. That's perfectly okay. But as has been said either here or elsewhere, it's not the not liking them that's the thing. It's the way the present their arguments. The whole "one True Trek" thing and the bashing them because they aren't "real Trek fans." That's where I have issue.

To do that, I don't belittle Jake because he doesn't like the new Trek. I have done my best not to speak to that at all other than to say "I know you don't like the new movies but...". I will continue to ask for verifiable sources on things he says. His days of "not having been proven wrong" are about to turn around in a pretty grandiose manner. I expect we'll get an official announcement from Paramount when filming starts, which I do believe is supposed to be tomorrow.

I love how they have a petition to stop a movie that is about to begin filming. The amount of money that would have to be committed by a studio before shooting is ridiculous.

But, I know its all a big money laundering scheme, so I hope it will all be worth the lawsuits

Apparently filming starts Thursday at Vancouver Film Studios according to the DGA of Canada.

Holy crap, that's today! I am living in a world where they are making a Star Trek movie RIGHT NOW! ... It seems almost surreal.

Do you guys actually listen to yourselves? You sound like spoiled children throwing a tantrum because Mum refuses to buy you a toy at the supermarket. The 2 Abrams films have grossed roughly $1.3 billion (that's with a 'B') dollars when you count all revenue and the two are the two highest grossing Star Trek films, ever. They rate well on websites dedicated to tallying what people think of movies, on Rotten Tomatoes, 303,000 people have rated Into Darkness an average of 4.2 out of 5. On Netflix, 3+ million (that's million with an 'M') viewers have rated the film an average of 4.3/5.

At the end of the day, maybe the problem isn't with the movies or Abrams, but with you...
