Will they go back to primeTrek after nuTrek finishes?.

^Exactly. So unless someone at CBS wants to spend the ridiculous amount of money needed to build sets for a new Trek series that would support 4K/HD recording and look at least as good as the movie sets, forget it.

All other issues aside, I don't think any of the existing sets would fit the bill for what a future series would require. Most of them are TOS-based and I don't see CBS doing a neo-retro approach.

Well, I am shure, whenever a new/nu/nanunana/Trek Show comes to the telly - it will be more gritty, more sexy, with more action and faster paced than ever before. There will be state of the art, never before seen special and visual effects that throw you off your chaise longue and the lens flares in the brand new sets will blind your eyesight.
Produced by Mark Harmon and written by George R. R. Martin.

Oh, there also will be actors. Or something that looks like it could be one in a very distant future.

It's more likely that CBS, if they chose to produce a new show, would use the currently available sets from the Abrams films, juts like TNG used the sets from the TOS films. Does that automatically mean that a new series would take place in the Abramsverse? Not necessarily, but probably likely.

Any new creative team that takes over will have their own ideas of how to do Trek. It's not Prime vs. Nu. Robbenberry, Harve, B&B and JJ all had their shot, and when someone new comes in, they will have their own vision and take on it. Even something SAID to be in continuity with JJ or Berman Trek will probably end up being something basically new. I think thats great.

Sounds about right. And, ultimately, any new Trek show will rise or fall on the basis of its storytelling, acting, production values, and general execution, not on whether it's set in this continuity or that one.

If it's a quality show, the audience won't care whether Vulcan still exists or not, or whether Chekov has the "right" birthdate or whatever.

I'd like to see a remake of Kelly's Heroes done in the Star Trek universe (either one), complete with gold pressed latinum, maps, generals, and fanatic starship commanders, without any of the usual characters.

Sorry to pee in the Trek nerds' pudding, but there's no way in hell CBS is doing a new show in the "Prime." That ship has sailed. The chances of any new TV Trek are slim at best.

My prediction? At no time in the next 5 to 10 years will there be a new Trek series on TV. It's just not gonna happen.

If I'm wrong, I'll make a public apology to the nerd base here on this forum. But I really don't think I'm wrong.

Kelly's Heroes is one of my favorite films. So I'd be up for that.

The poor handling of VOY and ENT (despite its final two seasons) left a very bad opinion of the show runners abilities to keep things going. However, that means I don't have much trust in a show based on nuTrek either, even if I think it could be cool. Regardless, there is no way CBS would dump the free publicity of tying into the movies.

I just wish they would hire some actual science fiction writers. Imagine speculative science on the level of Interstellar but done for a a Star Trek movie.

Why should they?

Just to please die hard fans? I think not..

To quote the great Captain Kirk

"young minds, fresh ideas, be tolerant"

Be aware that quotes from a character to make a point are always suspect because no one real actually said it other than a writer and an actor.

So how about a "reality" show based upon Star Trek? Show how the uncouth live instead of, you know, intelligent people. Or maybe base a show around a poor family suddenly rich from striking a dilithium mine - The Beverly Pakleds.

I like Michael Dorns idea for a series. The timeline he wants is messed up though. it should be placed after nemesis. Probably wont get made but it would be cool to see worf back and in command. Link below.

I think 'Captain Worf' would be DOA. The character has been way overused in universe.

But we never have had a Klingon Starfleet captain. I would be interested to see how Worf handles being a captain on deep space missions.. It would be cool to see if anything Picard taught him stuck.

I would have liked that a lot, especially seeing more of daily Klingon life. At least, I would like that if it shows more non-warrior stuff, and shows more cultural diversity or depth. Especially if it is like this video. It's only two minutes long but has as much characterization for the Klingons as every Klingon centric episode and movie combined.

I just don't see that as an interesting basis for a series. Can Worf act like a member of an alliance that he's been part of since he was five-years old? In my opinion, there is just an incredible amount of tedium in a series like that.

"Oh, no! Here is a group of savages that like to eat raw meat like Klingons. Will Worf betray his oath as a Starfleet officer and show them that it is safe to continue to eat raw meat against the concerns of his Chief Medical Officer or will he teach them about fire and how to cook meat like a civilized human?!?"

"On the next exciting episode of Staaaaaar Trek: Captain Worf!"

We had so much Klingon non-sense from 1987-2005 that I am hopeful to never see another one again in the Star Trek universe.

I applaud the sentiment, but I can't resist pointing out that that particular quote referred to the shiny new transwarp drive on the Excelsior.

And we all know how successful that was! :)
