Jonathan Frakes: "Star Trek won't be coming back to TV."

You are the only thinking there will be a show on yar not me since you keep brining it up.

How soon you forget your own post:

And seeing how you can't grasp the conversation at hand it is surprising you are not banned yet.
I can grasp it just fine since all of my posts were in response to your original post I requoted above and that you seemed to have forgotten writing. And I'd watch the "banning" talk if I were you, since that's what get's people banned, not normal conversation like what I'm having.

Anyway, I'm kinda done talking about this.
Plus, it's just a terrible, terrible idea. While I would give Frakes a shot out of sheer nostalgia and genuine like for the man, there's no way it would really get anywhere. As for Denise Crosby, no, just no. As I said in another post, she was wooden, just a mediocre-at-best actress, and I say that as someone who liked Yar.

Hell, I still cringe during the TNG episodes with Sela. So the idea of her carrying a show of her own is just fannish in the most reaching sense. It would be very unlikely as to ever gain any kind of popularity, and would assure the death of any remaining chance at Star Trek getting a series for years.

In case you didnt know Denise Crosby and Johnathan Frakes are actors. Tasha Yar and Riker are the characters those actors play.:techman:

You mean like where I mentioned the separate identities of Tasha Yar and Denise Crosby?

And if we're going there, Johnathan Frakes did not play Riker. Jonathan Frakes, however, did play Riker.

Glass houses, my friend.

Of course, you're more likely referring to the notion that a different actress could play Tasha Yar, and that's true. That also raises the question of why name her Tasha Yar in the first place? No one gives a shit about Tasha Yar except a tight knit group of fans, and Denise Crosby.

I have to ask: why Tasha Yar of all characters? With all due respect to Tasha, she's hardly an iconic figure. "Captain Sulu" or "Captain Worf" might have some name-recognition value, but Tasha is basically a footnote in Trek history.

Because the bird ensign earlier in the thread mentioned it as an idea for a Netflix series, and it just took on a life of its own ;)

Never mentioned it as an idea for a show. But please do keep making things up.

Anyway if this is true, then I think it demonstrates backwards thinking on CBS' part. Ratings do not mean as much as they used to in the Netflix era. Really a slick 13 episode Star Trek series on Netflix would not be that over whelming and would not cause that much over saturation. Marvel has several movies and TV shows going at the same time.

Whether it be through advertising dollars or licensing fees, someone has to be willing to pay for that new Star Trek series. CBS has probably done their homework and found no one willing to fork over the money to make it happen.

I can only think of two characters that would be great for a netflix series and that is commander Riker or Tasha Yar.

What?
Netflix has a few shows I believe such as Daredevil. I was commenting on the fact that i feel only two characters i can think of as carrying such a small series is tasha or riker since both characters have interesting back stories compared to the other characters .

^ Tasha Yar mentioned as idea for show.

Yes, I've already pointed this out to him and he's in denial even with proof. Honestly, I don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty sick of talking about a show with Tasha Yar anyway.

I'm more interested in that Dr. Pulaski show Greg Cox was excited to talk about. :ouch:

Thanks for proving my point that I never said they should become shows. Only that they would fit the model of such shows but do please continue to make up my position since you got yourself stuck in a rock and a hard place.

 So you're not saying a show about Yar would be a good fit for Netflix?

Star Trek: Honeytrap

Yar is recruited by Starfleet Intelligence to go back in time to track down an ellusive villain, but in order to hunt him down she has to take on the role of a stripper.

* * * *

Star Trek: Odo, PI

Odo returns to the Alpha Quadrant a century after leaving and becomes a Private Investigator, hunting down the scum of the quadrant and dispensing his particular form of justice, aided by his new sidekick Rani Dax.

^ Odo as a roving investigator could make a good animated series (provided they keep the angst, otherwise it's just a cheesy comedy).

I'd so watch the Odo series.

Of course, I'd probably be the only one - hence why it's better left to the realms of fanfiction.

Nah, strippers are so 21st century. She'd paint herself green and pose as an Orion animal woman . . ..

^ I was thinking she'd be back in the 21st century, less needed for expensive sets. She'd be the stripper with a heart of gold, and a mean aikido chop.
