X-Files Revival Officially Ordered at Fox

Carter: It was part of the mystery of "The X-Files." That relationship was kind of mysterious. Did they get together? Didn't they get together? If they've got a child together, when did they get together? These are questions that we will deal with and answer in good time.

He hasn't grown up at all. How much time is needed? Do we need to wait another 15 years?

I really saw no need for a relationship between the two, other than professional, but I realize I'm in the minority on that one.

After all they had been through together, it would completely ridiculous for them NOT to have a deeper relationship. Maybe it didn't need to be sexual, but it certainly needed to evolve beyond them just being coworkers.

Exactly. They did the UST dance for 7 years. It could only go on for so long.

I think it's called the NEVER dance. :\ Chris has seemed to have this particular bug up his butt for years now. He STILL thinks people love it. But for the most part we've moved on and WE DON'T.

Understood, I think I misposted, I didn't mean strictly professional, but also not in a "relationship". I'm not sure if I'm clear still, but I think they spent so much time together that they must have bonded on each other if only because of that.

Like close friends? That would have been cool too.

I'm ambivalent about this - the X-Files to me was of a particular era and cultural zeitgeist and I'm not quite sure how they will pull this off.

That's true, but it's still one of the early "arc"-based stories, which was kind of ahead of its time, which is probably why they're thinking of bringing it back, just like the (so far failed) attempt to revive Twin Peaks.

Yes! Thank you.

You're welcome!

I'm ok with where they're at for the most part. But I hope that they won't screw things up.

I certainly hope so, if they still have a child (worst mistake of the series).

Back in the day, sure. Now... not so much. I don't mind the relationship that much.

Maybe back then it was friends with benefits ;).

Reached by phone in Santa Barbara, Calif., earlier this week, the veteran showrunner discussed his long relationship with the city, returning to TV after a long hiatus, battling "puritanical" TV limits, and steering clear of a Mulder and Scully love scene.
Good luck with that one. It's one BIG elephant in the room, trumpeting its butt off :p.

CP: Such a big part of the show was the will they/won't they storyline and fans still haven't gotten a proper love scene. Mulder and Scully obviously had a child together, why was their relationship never explicitly consummated?

CP: In these six episodes?

Carter: In a way.
Don't be a dodgeball, Chris :p. But tbh, it sounds like he's grown up a bit. So I'll give him a bit of a benefit of a doubt. But just a bit.

Thoughts you guys? :)
So was the baby conceived the old fashioned way? I've never seen the episodes with the pregnancy or baby, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that he was born due to Alien/Syndacite/whoever experimentation, not necisarily by Mulder and Scully having sex.

Who's the daddy? ;) But all kidding aside, I HATED that plotline . I figure the IVF failed and they had sex.

Per Manum means 'by hand', so there's that as well :techman: .

We now have a premiere date and time!

Sunday, January 24th -- 10pm

Then it's moving to Mondays at 8pm :), for the next 5 episodes. Also, heads up! It's a 2 night premiere! There's another episode on Monday at its regular time.

Is it bad that I just naturally assumed that the whole season would be released on Netflix?

I forget that actual TV channels still exist.

Nah :p. Honestly I'm glad that actual TV channels still do exist. Not everyone has Netflix :).

And some of us have gotten rid of TV in favor of Netflix. :p

Looks like I'll have to wait a while to see the new season.

Yep.

Heck I'd go with it too if it weren't for some cable shows. Getting tired of the rate hikes tbh.

I really wish it would come on Sunday's at 9. I think that was the old time slot.

I wish so too, but it's better than nothing :). I remember it being on around 9pm on Fridays too back in the day.

Here's a link to the video from the upfronts they did today via Fox.

It wasn't much, but it was pretty cute :).

Thanks for the link to that clip, Random Spock. That was cool.

When they first announced the new timeslot, I was a bit disappointed that it wouldn't be returning to Sundays at 9, just for nostagia's sake. But after giving it some thought, I'm actually quite glad that they decided to avoid the old scheduling. Sundays at 9 is a pretty busy time for my DVR already (Good Wife, HBO shows) but Mondays at 8 won't hold any conflicts for me.

I'm just so excited for it to be back.
